Why? 5B is a lot of money but another 25 years of revenue generated is more.... by far.

Re: Will Jeanie sell the team?
She'd have to convince her siblings to sell, and I have a feeling they'd rather give it back to Jim and let him have another run first before doing that.

Re: Will Jeanie sell the team?
Unlikely. The problem that she probably doesn't want to sell the team (all indications are is that she is someone who really craves to be Ms. LA/Ms. Lakers. Money can't buy that kind of prestige) and getting the other siblings to sell as well (similar reasons).

Actually the eleder brothers are the ones likely to sell the team. Not jeannie. I wouldnt mind new ownership though.

Re: Will Jeanie sell the team?
Correct.
The elder brothers wanted to be bought out even 2 years ago and aren't really that interested in the team. It's not what their lives revolve around. They would probably agree to selling if Jeannie really wants that. I don't think she will. Its emotional. How can you sell something your dad built and then gave to you without trying everything you possibly can. She will fail 10 times before she sells.

Sell it and get a Barbie house with a kitchen, then get a gymnastic or netball team. Time to move on.

They still need a majority to sell. Jessie and Joey work full time for the Lakers and they eventually figure to gain more control as they are younger so they absolutely won't agree to a sale.

From what I remember from the attempted coup, it was in the best interest of Johnny and Jim to sell the team because it would benefit their children. As the trust is currently constituted, just based on age, Jesse and Joey would end up with the Laker kingdom. Jeanie doesnt have kids so her legacy is the continued success of the Lakers. But all it would take would be Jeanie to change her mind and theyd have the votes to sell the team. Ive read that Janie pretty much just follows Jeanie's lead.

How does that make you better than the Lin, Gallo, and Wil fans who root for them over NY?

Pretty much. The way the thrust is constituted is pretty messed up.

There's a good chance she'll face a no confidence vote if it's true that Jessie and Joey hate pelinka and she wants to persist with him.

I wish, whoever bought it would have to pay $5 billion so they'd have to really care.

Re: Will Jeanie sell the team?
The owner would be Phillip Anschutz, there’s no reason to speculate who the owner would be. He owns AEG who owns the biggest minority stake in the Lakers and have the first right to buy the Buss’ share if it’s put up for sale.
