I've lost respect for Magic in all of this. Clearly goes half ass into the job. Once it doesn't look like it's going to be an easy road he bails out without telling anyone. Jeanie Buss steps out and says she has full trust and confidence in him, then right away Magic calls for a press conference to step down without telling Jeanie. I don't respect that move at all.

This is what i think. Lebron had no problems dealing the core for AD which i was against.

Lebron gets blamed for trying to trade the core for a superstar. Plenty of fans were on board with it saying BI and ZO would never come close to AD's talent. It didn't happen so now it's up to Lebron to rebuild trust with his teammates.

Everything else is a Magic **** plenty of evidence that proves it before Lebron came.

well the rumors were also bron wanting rondo and lance and magic wanting more shooters around bron, fits with the other rumours bron wanted to do less ball handling in la.

If agree with you that Lebron said he wanted to have less ballhandling duties..But i cant see Lebron picking out Rondo,Lance as the ones he was thinking of. There are plenty of players who can handle the ball and shoot the ball at an respectable level. But whatever we'll blame that on him aswell.

Still the majority of it is Magic being an absolute train wreck...There is no denying that.

This makes me believe all the reports that Lebron hand-picked the roster like he always does. Looks like Magic wasn't very involved in his job.

Maybe or maybe he finally realized nobody really believed he was the smartest guy in the room (or all that smart in general). He was just a delusional figurehead — who thought he was a shot-caller. And tonight we clearly see he’s a shameless narcissist.

Magic's best role in the NBA is being seen courtside and having Mark Jackson or Reggie Miller mention how great a player he was before they return to game action.

Anybody who says what Magic did deserves respect..has absolutely no idea what respect is.

Good move by Magic tbh. Gets to step down before becoming a martyr for Lebron & goes back to being his own man.

I can imagine it being hard for a career entrepreneur to suddenly be accountable to a boss again.

I agree Lebron picked that roster or at the very least made some strong suggestions on who he wanted to play with.
I remember last season while still with the Cavs he was constantly harping about needing more ballhandlers.

Fail

He was fined for the largest tampering ever, made some questionable deals, and was negotiating in public for AD and ruined the morale of his young players. Even the way he resigned was a fail. He didn't have the courtesy and decency to let the owner know beforehand after she gave him a vote of confidence.

So now the Lakers are gonna need a few days/weeks to sort this mess out.

Then they'll have to hire a President of Basketball Operations.

Then he'll have to hire a GM.

And that guy will have to hire a new coach.

And this will be during the playoffs, when competing teams won't want their guys interviewing for jobs. So they'll have maybe a couple weeks before free agency begins for a new front office to put together a strategy for one of the biggest and best free agency pools ever, after their biggest selling point was "come play for Magic and learn the Lakers ways from him".

And on top of all that, they'll have to prepare for the draft, which will likely be a top 10 pick, so they can't just mess around. And besides LeBron, half the team is probably not coming back after their 1-year deals are over, and the other, younger half are probably disgruntled after being thrown under the bus by LeBron and Klutch.

Those are some murky waters to be paddling through.

If I'm the Lakers I throw all the money I can at David Griffin to fill that position, then hire Juwan Howard as HC. These seem like no-brainers to me.

That's 10 hours of his week he'll get back.

Kind of a weak way for Magic to end it tbh.
