I wonder if Laker fans are starting to miss Jim and Mitch?

Why? 2 years ago LA had bad contracts and no Lebron.

Yes. And yet what I said remains true.

Joining LAL will go down as the biggest blunder of LeBron's career.

For Magic to Sully himself this way means that there is absolutely no hope there... hopefully they get somebody better than Middleton

David Griffin as GM, Tyronn Lue as Coach, sign Kyrie this Summer?

Sounds like a plan.

I think Magic was getting stonewalled by Jeannie Buss in terms of making major moves, he was constantly getting fines & notices from the league for “tampering”, people were blaming him for the AD disaster that alienated the entire roster and I think he finally had enough.

The block on firing Walton was the last straw. There was gonna be a dumpster fire this summer & Magic jumped off a sinking ship.

I do think the “backstabbing” comment was made towards Pelinka though. As much as Lebron creates these chaotic situations, I think Magic is too much of a player’s guy to throw Lebron under the bus.

Ultimately, Magic is a businessman & entrepreneur at his core. If he’s given a title but doesn’t have total power in his position, then he has no point in doing it at all. The guy is rich! He doesn’t need the money. And surely he’d prefer to not have to answer to anyone on big decisions. His reputation was at stake in the end.

Pelinka being a former agent and then Klutch sports having access to the Lakers platform...no teams wanna deal with that ****. Jeanie was in on it too, it just all backfired

Yeah, let's blame Lance for all of this. That big fish he signed is always gonna get the pass.

WWE has less drama when replacing GM's and their stuff are scripted for maximum drama...

Magic Johnson for Smackdown GM!

Backstabbing? Inside the Lakers? Around the Lakers? Around the NBA?

That's not what we do "here"?

Cause if Magic thinks that the trades he couldn't complete either with Leonard in the summer or with AD midseason failed cause of "backstabbing" he couldn't be more wrong.
It's business Magic.It may feel personal,but it's just business.

Jerry West's consulting contract ends with this season, he doesn't have to be pried away if he wants to come. He stepped away from the Warriors to go to an infighting cap locked Clippers and turned that situation around. That's what he does, so the Lakers being rudderless is a bigger incentive for him.

The way Magic handled this (not talking about his WTF signings, just his departure announcement) paints a very unprofessional picture of him. He could have helped the franchise on his way out by admitting to his mistakes and taking some blame, but instead he deflected everything and left it wide open for the media to toy with the entire summer. Gonna be a looong summer for laker fans

That always felt like the set up, to reunite the band from Cleveland in LA without Gilbert. Kyrie's midseason romance with LeBron and the push to get the AD deal done felt like foreshadowing.

Even if he thought nobody was coming, the decent thing to do would have been to actually wait for free agency to begin and resign afterwards like he was supposed to.
His timing is awful and makes the Lakers look even more dysfunctional to potential FA.

It would be interesting if those Cleveland guys (Kyrie, Griff and Lue) ended up with Lebron in LA and KD left GSW and went to a team in the East...

There's no way Lebron, Kyrie, Ingram, Kuzma, etc. are beating the current GSW's but it would be interesting to see if they could do it if KD wasn't there any more.

Heck, maybe LA trades some picks and other filler for K Love and then Richard Jefferson get's to watch the original GSW and LBJ, Kyrie and Love run it back.... I'd be interested in seeing that..
