There is plenty reason, with the biggest being next season.

We will be without Daniels and Crawford next season and could see Jimmer as a possible replacement. So we give him a bit of burn in these last 10 games to see exactly what he's got and if he can compete in the league.

I also think this could be a step in another direction as well, like if he plays pretty solid and he could handle more minutes and a bigger role than previously imagined, we might be able to afford moving a guy like Okobo or Melton in a trade.

I have been one of the bigger detractors of Melton and Okobo, that said if you are going to give anyone the last 10 games to finally make a decision on if they can be useful next year or not then it should be them. Unless you have already resigned your thoughts to the fact that neither are worth it already. I know its only hypothetical and shouldn't happen, but if we were starting next season with Johnson as our starting pg, with Jimmer as the second string Pg, I think everyone here would think the off-season is a failure. Unless we are thinking Johnson backs up Book next year while we get a LEGIT pg and Jimmer backing up whoever that is, but if we are thinking of Johnson as our pg and we have Melton and Okobo and are still looking to add a Legit pg, then Jimmer is useless. No one is going to trade assets for Melton or Okobo right now.

Jimmer is not a PG. He's a backup SG...like Daniels...or probably a 3rd guy. Regardless, we need 3 pt shooters and there is little downside to having him. We can always not play him or cut him. It shouldn't impact Melton or Okobo as they are developing. I think Okobo needs to stay since we have his rights for cheap for 3 more years and he should be a solid scoring guard off the bench with the length and quickness to play D. If Igor is around, I'm confident he will develop. Melton is good for D but without his rights after next year may be harder to keep so perhaps he goes out in a trade for a PG (might have more value anyway).

People get way too worked up about signings like this and Spalding. You have 15 roster spots and need end of the bench guys. If you have better options for those spots come July then you simply cut these dudes.

It's a fine very low risk and potentially decent reward type signing.

It's funny I've seen a little suns Twitter wanting these minutes to go to Daniels. Why I have no idea. It's clear what Daniels is, he can shoot but ranges from below average to terrible at every other aspect of playing basketball. And they will waive his cap hold and there's very little chance he's back next season.

Waste of a pickup if he doesn’t drop 50 in his first game.

Did anyone else catch his interview? Sounded like we have been interested in Jimmer for a while but he had a contract with the Shanghai team. Probably couldn’t break it as we were only offering a veteran minimum deal or something. Anyway they made the playoffs so he his season got extended further.

This guy is 30 years old and has been on 4+ NBA teams and has not cut it. Why now are we giving him a chance? Kinda baffling.

Giannis, Steph, Satoransky, TJ McConnell, Big Sauce, Ryan Anderson

TJ McConnell would be nice. Harrassing other teams PGs with Tyler Johnson AND TJ Mcconnell would be nice. Non stop defense 48 min.

I wasn't impressed with him from what I watched. Looked like the same volume scorer that needs the ball and has a game that doesn't translate to the NBA.

Doubtful he's gonna be back in PHX, no?

If Kokoskov is back he is gonna be out.

If there is another HC he probably is back as an end of the bench player.

He hasn't showed anything really. No need for him on the team imo.

That can be said for another 10 players on our current roster too.

Indeed, but in Jimmer's case you have to consider also his age and the fact that he's already disappointed on other teams.

I don't even know why this would be a debate. Absolutely no reason to waste a roster spot on him next year.
