Offseason failures?

I’m sorry, didn’t they sign LeBron James?

I don’t even like dude but understand signing him automatically makes last offseason a successful one for them.

They have cap
They have some decent young players(trade bait)

AND THEY ARE THE LAKERS.

Knick fans are reaching.

Magic leaving is actually a good thing for them. I wanted him to stay there and mess up a few more signings.

- Lebron is 34, locked into a 4 year Max deal.

- Knicks have TWO Max slots and depth (Mitch alone is better than any of the 3 Lakers youth).

- Knicks have a Top 5 pick in a Top heavy Draft. If we get Zion or Ja, it’s a wrap.

Come correct Greenie or don’t come at all. :reporter:

Magic got LeBron.
Phil got Melo, gave him a NTC and forced a shape down his throat.

...yeah, Magic wasn’t as bad.

Fair enough.

But to make a complete mess of this Lakers season the way that he did despite signing LeBron was hard to do - and he did. It required a truly special level of incompetence. But you're right that the way Phil dragged Melo through the mud after giving him the NTC definitely tilts the balance in Magic's favor. What Phil did was disgraceful, we can agree on that.

PS: I said since Phil.

I simply think his mistakes are easily fixed.

They don’t have any crazy contracts on the books. LeBron is getting up there but I don’t think he’s washed just yet.

They don’t need years to flip this. They need a summer.

Have a Top 5 pick? Check
Have Mitch? Check

What chips exactly am I jumping the gun on?! :-?

Magic was worse in many ways actually

Im unlucky enough to live in LA and I can tell you the drama is worse

sure there was no Noah contract but ...

he traded All Star Russell to move Mozgov
he traded Zubac to the clips, which people are nuts over
he let lopez walk and now lopez is having a sick season
he let Randal walk and got nothing for him
and he made a serious mess of the AD situation

thats not mentioning the salary given to the bums they have, or the swing and miss on Paul George and co, or the treatment of Luke Walton, or the tampering, etc

Magic was there for less than 2 years
thats a lot in a short time

I don’t like some of those trades but remember those trades gave them the cash for LeBron.

Him not fuqing up the cap isn’t something to gloss over. That’s big. We should know first hand.

Like I said:

LeBron
Cap
Some tradable assets
THEY ACTUALLY ARE THE LAKERS

They will be alright

You don’t know who we may or may not get.

We could easily sign Kemba and Kris Mid, drop to 4th yadda yadda yadda.

I’m not jinxing ****. And I don’t want any karma coming back to bite us due to trying to make more out of the Lakers situation than what it is.

We gotta stay humble.

I suspect that's exactly what they'll be. Alright.

Next year they can make a little noise if they play their cards right. I think they'll be in trouble for that last year of LeBron. That's a lot of cheddar for a 37 yr old.

god it would be frustrating to see Mitch killing it in lakers land instead of being one of the very few bright points on our season

The Lakers don’t allow players to dictate. Don’t be surprised if Jeanie shows LeBron the door.

they may be going into free agency without a GM/President and without a coach or coaching staff

if the big names go to NY and the Clips or stay home they might be entering next year without another star next to LBJ, a failed experiment in Rondo and co, a disgruntled young core and bridges burned in the AD trade attempt

the worst case would be West going back to the lakers

Even if they get KD and Kyrie, when's the last time any star came to NY and won right away? Only one really is Mark Messier. Every other big name free agent to come to NY has largely ended in disappointment.

When was the last time we netted (2) top ten players in one offseason...? When the last time we w ere in the running for a possible generational talent while having a possible perennial DPOY and multiple first rounders in our cache?

wow

you are not clued into the culture here with the lakers

he also has a player option in his 4th year, making him harder to trade still

West going back would be a coup. I'm not really clued into whether that's a legit possibility or hopefulness.

Well, we could play "WHAT IF" this or that does or doesn't happen all day long. I won't do that. Instead, I'll stand by my original point that IF KD and Kyrie come as expected and IF we get a top draft pick as expected, no discussion of Porzingis and the KNICKS will be relevant.

They aren't here yet, and the people jogging victory laps could be in for a rude awakening.

That's what Lakers fans said about Russell. Now they throw it back in Magic's face, when that deal helped them get cap space for Lebron.

Actually Laker fans used to sht on Russell a lot more than KP ever got. Part of that is his own fault though.
