Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

Re: Brewers/Angels Series
Other than Hader and Woodruff our pitching has been craptacular so far. Just really not confident in burnes or peralta over the course of a season. Criminal how many runs we are giving up and our offense is still keeping us in it.

Re: Brewers/Angels Series
Not that we shouldn't worry about some of the pitching struggles, but they've juiced the ball up again, so take some things with a grain of salt. Some teams' bullpens have an ERA of like 50 and there are some games where the teams are combining for 10 HR.

Re: Brewers/Angels Series
Our bullpen currently has the 3rd most innings pitched (45), 3rd most strike outs (46), 3rd lowest opponents batting average (.218), 4th lowest opponents OBP (.308) and 3rd lowest oponnent slugging percentage (.394) in the whole NL. The relief pitching isn't as bad as it seems.

Obviously there's a bit of Hader bias in those stats. I think that Jeffress being back and maybe a deadline acquisition + Nelson will alleviate some of these issues. It's possible that Burnes or Woodruff may be a pen option later in the year if they're struggling in longer stints and we acquire a more "reliable" starter, allowing those guys to maybe focus on dominating 2 innings again.
But I'll reiterate that something is going on league-wide again. Jarrod Dyson hit a walkoff homer last night (#2 on the year), Tommy La Stella has turned into Bryce Harper, and there are games that are between 2 solid/great pitchers that are finishing 14-8 at Citi Field (decent offenses, but still). All of the washed/struggling power hitters that Seattle collected to transition a rebuild now are getting the ball over the fence again and they are the most feared lineup in baseball.
Something smells funny here.

I miss the Hader/Jeffress/Knebel/Soria/Burnes/Woodruff bullpen.

0-3 sweep means we should post the pics of what the maid really looks like.

Re: Brewers/Angels Series
We were just so spoiled 2nd half of last year. Not only were we good but every little thing bounced our way. This upcoming 21 days straight is just brutal. We did survive some rough patches last year like the early few series against the cubs and cards and the pre all star break skid. Hopefully this is one of those small stumbles and we can recover. Can’t get away from this feeling that the entire pitching staff severely overachieved last year and we really overestimated what we had going into this year. Feel like Stearns is gonna need to pull off some more big moves at the deadline to get this pitching strengthened to feel good about our chances again.

Yeah we really need two of Peralta, Burns, or Woodruff to stick in the rotation. Or else this could get messy quick.
