really should change thread name to: Laissez Faire - The Nic Batum Thread

(lais·sez-faire: policy or attitude of letting things take their own course without interfering)

More like "rien à foutre" (which means "dont give a sh*t").

Wish there was a way to know what players like Cody, Kemba .. are saying in the locker room.

Geting Parker here is probably the stupidest thing since he has joined Parker at Asvel and apparently he prefers spending time watching his asvel team (both men & women teams) rather than on the practice or with coaching staff.

At least i hope Charlotte will ask him to stay away from the national team since our NT coach would probably ask him to come for world championship. And we dont need any tourist in our nt, kthx.

since his move back to sg, 5 games

16.6ppg
5.8rpg
4.6apg
49% fg
49% 3pt (7 attempts/game)
85% ft

seems trying to force him into the role of defensive specialist wasn't the best idea... not that nic is blameless... or that he is anywhere close to earning his money... or reliable in last 5 mins... but its a start... and increasing his value... or decreasing his negative value...

I prefer one of the nicknames I gave him: Frenchie, Nic Bottom or Sh*tty Nicky.

Zach Lowes latest article heres a quote when hes bragging on Bacon.

Charlotte pulled something unusual in never officially surrendering in the playoff chase while still shifting minutes to Miles Bridges and Dwayne Bacon at the expense of Jeremy Lamb (a free agent) and Nicolas Batum. (Prediction: Batum is not in Charlotte next season. I would peg a Batum departure as even more likely if Kemba Walker re-signs.)

Lowe usually doesn't just spout BS, so I wonder who he thinks we can swap for Batum. If he's confident enough to make a prediction he'll get moved before the start of next season he probably has a specific proposal in mind he heard through the grape vine.

Intriguing that he thinks it's even more likely Batum is gone if Kemba returns. In that case it would have to be a trade that improves our team right away, wouldn't it? I know I'd definitely call whoever the new Wizards GM is and offer Batum+12th pick for Beal and see how close that is to acceptable to them.

Hell if any GM will take our 12th pick and Nicky Batum, there will be dancing in the streets of Charlotte. It would not matter what we got back as long as it was not a another bad contract.

The most generous assumption for Batum's inactive April is that he was just recovering from a major stomach virus that allegedly caused him to lose a substantial amount of weight so maybe he was weak and lacked energy. But if that's the case he should have never returned, I don't think I have ever seen a player do less with his time on the floor than Batum did the last two weeks of this season.

2 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks in 34 minutes for France in their first World Cup game. 1-4 FG.

I don't care if Batum ever plays another minute for us again. Never gives a great effort on the floor, incredibly overpaid, seems to have a poor work ethic overall. Probably my least-favorite Hornet ever.

Borrego better not give him a huge load of minutes for salary reasons or seniority or whatever. I'd rather go 0-82 with the kids and lose while watching the team do awesome dunks and honest defensive mistakes rather than lazy passes and total lack of effort.

He was also good for 3 1/4 against Lithuania.

he's been a pleasant surprise for me since he showed he could still deliver (on both ends). More than his scoring, the good thing today was how he defended Ingles. Unlike the nba games againt Utah or even worst unlike the facepalm game he had in 2016 in Rio he showed some much needed agressivity. Well he proved he could stil be a pro basketball player.

Sucks to lose against an aussie team though, you got too many floppers

BTw it's gonna be funny to root for France and Batum against the Us (and Kembaaa) in 1/4. I guess if by miracle we win, mod's here will have to ban my account 8-)

Nic Batum says he told Hornets coach James Borrego he’d be fine playing with the second unit if Borrego wants to keep young guys Washington, Bridges and Bacon as starters.

He might be a lot of things (or not be a lot of things) but no one could say that he is a locker room or team chemistry cancer type.

You cant be when you're ultra passive. When you're there to collect the check with minimal effort, it just flows. If you know, you know.
