Is Jon Leuer healthy enough to help?

With Blake hobbled Leuer may be called on in the playoffs. I'm thinking he hasn't fully recovered from the ankle and knee surgeries over the last year. Casey made reference to him not being back to form and the long layoff.

When healthy he was a good defender in the past and would seem to be another option to guard Giannis. It would be a surprise if he could deliver solid play for 15-20 minutes a game but it sure would be nice.

Jon Leuer’s health is not what needs to be questioned. It’s his ability to play basketball.

I'm expecting Leuer to be a solid backup for Blake next season after getting in a full training camp and working on his shot all summer. Next year will be another contact year for him so we might see his best year as a Piston.

Leuer? The stretch big who cant shoot? At least Thon is good enough defensively to make an impact.

Thon is great with the energy and stuff but I would rather put Dre, GR3 or Griffin w/ crotches on Giannis. He has no chance defending physical matchups.

arent Thon and Giannis best buds? That would be interesting to watch just to see how they interact.

Teams have put Embiid, Capela, and Gobert on him and he still went full prime Shaq on them effortlessly.

He's unstoppable. He would have to have an anomaly of a game for him to be guarded.

There can't be PED testing in the last week of the year before playoffs right? Get him some creatine shakes and some HGH quick!!

If neither Leuer nor Maker can defend Giannis, would you want the better offensive player to at least try to make up for it at the other end? And, would that be Leuer?

Oh wait... Leuer can't even make a 3P these days. :(

It's as if the move to starter in his first year here blew his confidence and even healthy he's never gotten it back. We've gotten about a half season of a good backup PF for our $40 million. This may have been worse than the Josh Smith debacle.

i'd just put bruce brown on giannis n see what happens we did have some success in playing undersized guys on bigger opponents like ben wallace on shaq.

Leuer has NEVER been able to make a 3. The guy has been in the league 9 years already and has made a grand total of 125. His first year here was by far his biggest output - 49 made. But he only shot 29%. The other 8 years combined, a total of 76. He's jump shooting big, but his shot is that 15-18 midgame, not the 3.

Leuer got paid $40 million based on literally one half of basketball when he gave the Pistons fits on the perimeter. It was exacerbated by the fact Kevin Love killed us in the playoffs that year.

Leuer is healthy. He just sucks at NBA basketball. On Instagram I asked him if he still plays in the NBA and he blocked me. So he probably knows he sucks at NBA basketball. Good for him tho, had SVG fooled into thinking he was worth 40 mil. I wish I could be that lucky.

Probably a rotation of Brown, GR3, and Thon. You don't want Dre and especially Blake expending energy and fouls on him.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy
