Could Luke's hire be a strategic move to lure young talent like Kuzma?
I've gotten the impression this past year that KK, hasn't necessarily enjoyed playing in LeBron's shadow. But TBH, I can't say I've been closely examining the situation. It's a possibility I don't mind musing about though.

I think he would appeal to younger players for sure, that's one of the biggest things I've been reading about him is he's able to connect really well with his team so it's definitely a positive.

Luke's ceilling was 35 wins with LAL young core. I'm note sure that our roster is far more talented while Luke didn't prove he's able to do something more than Joerger. There're zero progress from Ingram, Lonzo, Kuz and Hart during this season.

It's definitely true that the development of the Laker's young core was a bit stymied this year. But attributing it to Luke and ignoring the motley crue of players on the roster (Rondo, Stevenson, ShaqtinAFool All-Star) is a bit disingenuous.

Not to mention having the largest singularity in the league on their roster this year.

From what I’m reading Messina is still very much in the game, with a formal interview coming up. It’s not over

Messina was the guy I wanted for us last season. From the research I've done, he's tough on his players and that will rub some the wrong way, but believed Giannis would have bought in and everyone else would have followed suit to create a culture. In hindsight, with the way things have gone for us, anyone other than Bud seems stupid.

With all of that being said, I think Messina is a great coach who gets it, and is a guy who will continually adapt, but if your top guys can't handle the tough love stuff, I'd be wary of the overall culture fit and guys buying in for the long run.
