WARNING, WARNING! PRECEDENT APPROACHING!

Post#2 » by Wammy Giveaway » Sat Apr 13, 2019 10:43 pm

Holy History Lessons, Batman! Doc Rivers has been in this spot before!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2002%E2%80%9303_Orlando_Magic_season

His Magic had a 3-1 lead against the top-seeded Detroit Pistons team... and collapsed.

The odds aren't looking good anymore.

Guys are a little hyped up. First playoff game for many. Just need to calm down. Bev is wide open. SGA is probably open as well. They are covering Gallo and probably Shammy but should loosen up soon.

I'm proud of these guys already. Call me crazy but if Durant was not on the Warriors I think we would match up with them. Durant is the one that scares me.

Liking the Game Plan So Far

Post#6 » by Ranma » Sun Apr 14, 2019 12:42 am

I actually like what Doc has been doing to start with the game plan so far. We're clogging the paint and playing the passing lanes. Putting a bulldog like Beverley on Durant is an unconventional gamble I'm down with to see what happens. We're moving the ball and not forcing the issue on offense while being aggressive on defense. The problem I've witnessed so far is that Trez has not been ready to receive the ball on passes from teammates. Those split-seconds might have actually cost him buckets in getting his man off-guard. Plus, he missed a free throw.

Not Bad with All Things Considered

Post#7 » by Ranma » Sun Apr 14, 2019 12:52 am

Even though we're down by 9 points after the 1st quarter, I still like what Doc is doing. If Draymond is going to beat us from beyond the arc, I can accept losing like that rather than trying that on Curry, Durant or Thompson. Trez has been sloppy with the ball. Gallo forced a 3-point shot that ignited the Warriors' run and Beverley missed both of his open 3-pointers and everything from the field, for that matter.

Trez and Lou almost already at their combined season average. This has been a great start to game 1.

Sloppy Miscues

Post#13 » by Ranma » Sun Apr 14, 2019 1:18 am

Gallo dropped off a pass to nobody as there seemed to be miscommunication between him and Harrell, which led to an easy fastbreak. We can't afford to have plays like that given how disciplined we've been on both sides of the ball so far.

Guys are a bit hyped up. That is okay. Its a big atmosphere. Some questionable calls. If they calm down they could make this a game.

Self-Destruction in Hostile Environment

Post#20 » by Ranma » Sun Apr 14, 2019 1:31 am

I don't like that we're self-destructing, which ruined what was a pretty good half of basketball for the most part. Yeah, the refs were screwing us over but that's to be expected with the Warriors even if they weren't playing at home. I don't like that we started forcing shots and Gallo looked uncomfortable out there with the ball even when he was wide open.

The Warriors have focused on Gallo and Shamet, which allowed Lou and Trez to go off, but having Gallo not come up with anything when he's freed himself is disappointing.
