Who's willing to trade up?
Since the majority of people feel there is a huge drop off in talent after 3 who's willing to trade up amd what would u give?
Leaving out of this draft without a blue chip player (a day 1 starting caliber player, future allstar) is unacceptable after having to bare thru this horrific season. Even though Zion is HIGHLY unlikely if we dont land 1 pick. I think Morant is definitely available at 2 Cavs Knicks Wizards Hawks already may feel like they have their pg of the future and not ever GM may be in love with barrett.

Re: Who's willing to trade up?
I'll take Morant 2 but I'm not a huge fan of his in general. Barrett is even worse and I think there is a high probability of him being a bust.
The only guy I would trade up for is Zion and no team that gets #1 is going to trade him for anything the Bulls have.
Basically, I can't see any scenario where a trade up is a good idea. The last time the Bulls did that . . . McDermott happened. Hopefully that is fresh in their minds.

For Morant, I would give what dallas gave up last year. Next year's 1st top 5 protected or unprotected 2021 if not conveyed

The last time that didn't happen results in settling for Kirk Hinrich instead of Wade. The reason for that was because Donyell Marshall and his 14 pts and 9 boards was too high of a price to move up from #7 to #4. I know that some people are going to say that the Raptors rumor was just a rumor. But, there was legitimate fire about the Raptors wanting a rotation bigman plus #7 for #4. The rumor makes a lot of sense in hindsight considering that the Raptors at the time was run by a dumb meathead named Grunwald, who drafted Bosh in that draft and followed that draft with consecutive bigman busts.
I'm always a fan of trading up. Have some conviction in your scouting department and go up and get your guy. If you mess up, it's a sign telling you to revamp your scouting department with real talent instead of bums collecting paychecks.

Nobody is trading Mt Zion.
For Morant, I would give up our pick plus top 3 protected next year pick plus eating some nasty contracts.

Re: Who's willing to trade up?
Zion is unaivalable. And Morant will be unavailable unless we have the third pick and someone at 2 already has their PG. If we don’t have the third pick, we won’t have assets needed to get it done.
Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

Yeah i would trade up into the top 3. Dont see the downside. If you dont get a star player in this draft, with limited cap room, then where?

Re: Who's willing to trade up?
I would absolutely trade up for Morant. I'd give up as much as our pick, Dunn, Val, and maybe our pick next year protected. Lauri, Zach, Otto, WCJ off limits in such a scenario.

And last time they didn't do that they lost out on Doncic. Hopefully that's fresh in their minds.

To trade up even with our pick Dunn and Val are useless pieces. Future pick might not be worth much either if people expect improvement.

You're likely giving up next year's first to do it. I'm not doing that for a not-Zion player.

Re: Who's willing to trade up?
If we drop to 5 or lower, I would do an ATL trade from last year to move up (top 3 or 5 protected pick in 2020). But if the pick is 3 or 4, I would want a much higher protection on the pick (lottery protected or something), as I don't view Morant as that much higher than Barrett or Culver. I'd still prefer Morant and think he fits the current team more seamlessly, but don't know that I'm giving up a very high pick to go from Barrett to Morant.

Re: Who's willing to trade up?
2019 1st + 2020 1st (Top 4 Protected) + Kris Dunn + 2nd Rd Picks maybe what it takes to move up.
Is it worth it for Morant? It depends:
1. What are Gar/Pax plans this offseason? Add another player like Otto? If so, we'll be pushing 34+ wins next season if healthy. Trading the pick doesn't seem all that bad.
2. What pick do we actually get? There is a slight difference between #4 and #8.
3. What other trade options are on the table?
4. Have you tried explore trading out and trading down as well if we miss on the lottery?

Re: Who's willing to trade up?
For Zion - yes
For Morant - no...he's the 2nd most likely to have a great NBA career, but comes with too incomplete of a game to give up much to move up to get him.
I'm still in the camp of not seeing much risk/reward difference between 3 and 12 in this draft, so I'd be more apt to trade down if someone is offering a second asset into a deal that keeps us in top 12.

The chances that whoever we draft outside of Zion is either a day 1 starter or future all star is definitely less than 50% IMO.

Re: Who's willing to trade up?
Like others have said, I would trade this years pick and next years top 5 protected pick to get Morant. I could see Cleveland, New York or Atlanta if they move up taking that deal. Leaving this draft without a future all star like Zion or Morant would be highly disappointing.

20% chance are the odds if you get a Top 5 Pick to land a great player.
If you look at the last 15 drafts, the statistical odds of getting a true consistent all star or better level type player is on or around 20% if you get a Top 5 Pick among all drafts combined. It's not easy to get an all star. This draft appears no different. Outside of Zion, the likelyhood that any of those other picks are all stars is slim.

The pain of that move was still stings... we gave away two legit NBA starters (SG Garry Harris, C Jusuf Nurkic) for what amounts to a bag of chips.

Re: Who's willing to trade up?
ROI is weak.
I'd do it for Morant, because he is good AND fills a position of drastic need.
Otherwise, its kind of pointless.
I'd rather trade OUT of the first round and get our starting PG. Cap Space + #4 pick can get us a Conley. We'll have to add spare parts, but no biggie.
I'd also be on the lookout for Kyle Lowry. Thats another PG I see being available on draft day for trades.
We have the #34 pick from Memphis to ensure we still add a competent role player.

I feel you as far as the general philosophy, Red, but what if Ja has a great performance at the NBA Draft Combine? Because I think Ja could put himself into Can't Miss territory with a good showing at the Combine. He's not far from that point already, and he's a fit for our roster as a do-it-all PG who can distribute, draw fouls and finish. Basically, everything people complain about Dunn not doing Ja has in spades.
