Biggest issue here is that LeBron is not the same player he was the last couple times he dictated roster and staff... Just keeping him happy isn't enough to win championships anymore... We need a coach with the insight to see when he's wrong and the green light to tell him No if needed...
Nobody listed so far is going to do that...
The fact that skin color may or may not be a factor, is just one symptom of the bigger disease... Namely that it's not a winning recipe anymore to hand the keys to the kingdom to LeBron and Klutch...

Even if it means we get AD after all... Because how long is it going to be before AD gets tired of losing every argument with LeBron's coach? Like Kyrie, Love and Bosh did?

And I’ve had some powerful people in the league, including a powerful agent who represents lots of key players, tell me, ‘We don’t want the person to be from either of those orbits. We don’t want the new GM, or president, or whatever, even to have some sort of connection to LeBron. We need it to be a fresh start. My players don’t want to have the impression that LeBron is running the team.’”

Well, the owners meetings are coming up... Here's hoping they let Jeanie know their thoughts.

I have a bad feeling that Jeanie will not replace Magic. I heard some rumblings that they have failed or chose to not hire the best staff, top brass executives, trainers, medical, etc bec the Buss family do NOT have other source of income unlike Ballmer.
Lakers are already committed to Lebron being here, yes, they can still trade him but it will be very difficult to do that in terms of getting a better or equal value. I don't know why they have to make sure the future staff should'nt have any connection with him would help. Lebron was at times were disengaged with LuKe this past season and it didn't helped the team.
I am with some fans here in terms of going all in for the next 3 years with Lebron.

You really think the Knicks wouldn't give us Zion for Lebron right now, knowing that Kyrie, KD, AD are waiting in the wings?

Lebron is getting like 37 mil/year plus a 15% trade kicker, salaries has to match so I can't imagine if it can actually happen, you might like to use the trade checker on this site and also I am one of the very few who is not completely sold on Zion.

Really hard to tell what Dolan will do... He's kind of a shiny penny kind of guy and Zion is the shiniest penny right now... He may think, get Zion and I'll have LeBron 2.0 for the next 10yrs instead of LeBron 1- for the next 4 or 5...

1. Are you more like:
Mana from Heaven
A Trolley Driver
Lebron's bff

2. Better looking:
Me
Rob Lowe
Tie

3. Your offensive philosophy:
Anything LeBron wants in the huddle
I have a system
My system is to wait patiently outside the huddle to confirm LeBron's every wish

4. Better Writer
1. Ayn Rand
2. Flock of Seagulls for "I Ran"

Knicks only have $34M on the books for next year, so they could DEFINITELY absorb Lebron for a pick. And undrafted players are not on the Trade Checker. Might want to be sure what you're talking about before you get sassy.

What are you even arguing? That the Knicks would use a ton of cap on a Zion for Lebron trade even though according to you they have Kyrie/KD/AD already waiting in the wings? That they can still sign Kyrie/KD/AD after a Lebron trade?

The new president should be seated first, then the coach based on that president’s preference. Otherwise, what are you telling the new pres? Here’s the coach we hired yesterday before you started. There, now just pretend that LBJ and Klutch won’t veto every personnel decision you make and you’ll be fine.

All three choices in this thread are inferior to Luke, sorry to say. How to get excited about either one of them beats me.

Stackhouse I could’ve hung with. Bring Phil back (on a screen for away games)?

D Lo, Randle, Bryant, Svi, Zubac, Luke...

Pelinka has lots of their blood on his hands. Demote him to head of scouting. We need fresh air in that office, then an occupant with a brain AND a complete set.

Get Ryan West. Please.

It needs to be someone with a strong vision, a calm gut and lots of leadership energy.

If anyone has time for research...

There has to be some connection with Monty Williams and Kawhi Leonard from his time on the coaching staff of the spurs.

Everyone knows he is the #1 target for the Lakers. The guy Jeannie will not let get away. Especially to the clippers.

I like that he has Spurs history. The Leonard connection is a great plus. But shouldn’t the new president have a say in this hire?
