If the Lakers can't land Kawhi or Durant or AD, they absolutely should trade Lebron and get back to the normal rebuilding plan.

Lebron was destructive enough this season. He'll be way worse next season with his petulant behavior, passive aggressiveness, etc. And you can't expect him to earn the trust of teammates. That won't happen, and he has little interest in doing it. He's not waiting for AD to sign in Fall of 2020.

So if we strike out on the top tier FA's, we'll have to commit long term to lower quality FA's. That won't get us to contending status. That'll get us to another 3 years of mediocrity and then starting over - again.

We have to hold the line. Can't try to keep bailing water out of a sinking ship. Unless you enjoy a slow death.
