They don't want him to get 172 days in his first year for service time but it would be some time in June, usually after 60 days to get by the Super Two date.

I'd guess this means Anderson takes Peraltas spot in the rotation. I don't really get why they keep giving Wilkerson chances but whatever I'm sure it's mop up duty.

When does draft pick compsation come off these guys? July 1st?

Brewers are in 1st with some serious question marks and Peralta is now hurt. If they can somehow get both on 1year deals they better do it. I don't care about budgets especially on one year deals. These two could really help.

Any word on Jimmy Nelson? Haven’t heard a peep. Is he with the team, is he in triple A, is he shut down at the moment?

Was wondering the same thing. They said the plan was for him to pitch in AAA but yeah we've heard nothing. Have to wonder if it was a set back.

• Jimmy Nelson pitched four simulated innings in Arizona on Monday and it "went well," according to Counsell. Nelson will pitch one more controlled game at Brewers Fields of Phoenix before the Brewers consider whether to assign him to a Minor League affiliate, most likely Triple-A San Antonio.

I don't know if we need Keuchel or Kimbrel more.

Keuchel. Which opens up Burnes going back to the bullpen if starting doesnt work out?

I don't know if they want to move Burnes back to the pen. He's clearly a longterm starter. Hader, Barnes, and Guerra are the only pitchers in our bullpen who have been decent so far.

I think Aguilar and Shaw deciding to show up would go a long ways.

Definitely agree, but the pitching concerns me a lot more. We're burning through our pen at a pretty accelerated rate, IMO. And that has diminishing returns when all but a couple struggle with consistency.

Even if we add a starter, I still think we need two more arms in the pen. Last year, we went into the playoffs with Woodruff, Burnes, Soria, Cedeño, and Knebel in the pen. Those are five arms that helped to carry that mediocre rotation down the stretch, and we've got none of them in the pen this year.

I almost want to hope the young starters figure it out and we just focus on strengthening the pen.

The pitching hasn't been good. My thought is that they could make do with what they have if they could get a little more from the offense though. An effective Jeffress, a positive appearance from Nelson this year, and a deadline acquisition could turn the bullpen back into a strength again and I think the 3 kids will settle down in the rotation. I worry that Kimbrel and Kuechel have waited to long and will provide little this year.
