I feel like that can be said about many players such as prime Rondo, Westbrook etc.

Of course he wasn't. Neither was Chauncey or Rasheed.
The whole selling point for how impressive the Pistons run was because they were comprised of a bunch of fringe all-stars and great role players.

Detroit 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 had Larry brown.
Sixers 2001 had Larry brown.
Get the trend?
Good coaching can elevate fringe teams to championship contention.
Brett brown coaches 2003-2005 pistons. They losing in 2nd round.

If Brett can't get this super talented Sixers team to the finals, that Pistons team doesn't even make the playoffs. He is that bad.

Jared Dudley: "We will leave him wide open until he proves in this league that he can make it. Right now, he's not even attempting it. So we know he's not going to be able to do that for the most part."
I know this isn't groundbreaking analysis but Ben HAS to address his unwillingness to shoot if he's ever going to sniff his full potential. Over-relying on transition can lead to Jekyll and Hyde performances- like the ones we've seen all season.

Meh, I thought Rondo was pretty damn good at making plays and playing PG in the half court setting, I personally think Ben was absolute garbage in game 1, obviously he was decent in game 2.
I know this is gonna sound nuts, but if Ben Simmons continues to struggle through the playoffs just like last year, Philadelphia should pull the trigger on an Anthony Davis trade, again just my opinion.

I also think the Jazz should trade Mitchell to give them more opportunity moving forward to make it out of round 1 of the playoffs.

I agree. Defense has been pathetic and looks like the same player as last year. This had nothing to do with Mitchell so I'm not sure why you're bringing him up if you disagree. And once again I said I would give more games to change my opinion.

Actually I think this has a lot to do with Mitchell, both being 2nd year players and a 2nd/3rd best player in their respective teams.
Before criticizing Ben and suggest trading him, I will first worry about Mitchell’s playoff struggles, shooting 25% with almost 20 FGA, since according to your profile name, I am guessing you are a Jazz supporter.
At least Ben didn’t regress from last year like Mitchell did, being the same player is fine in my books, just don’t play worse than the previous year.

Rondo and
Westbrook can get anywhere in the halfcourt with their ball handling in tight space and craftiness

He’s 22 and been playing PG for less than 2 seasons

Simmons is currently averaging 15.8 points, 9.3 rebounds, 7.7 assists in playoffs.
LeBron is close to falling out of the group, 7.1 assists
LeBron is not making playoffs anytime soon so doesn’t have to worry about any changes to those averages
Be interesting if LeBron and Westbrook end up playing together.
Westbrook is at 6.9 rebounds per game, LeBron 7.1 assists per game, both could damage each other's chances of being an elite

This has nothing to do with Mitchell. It’s the Ben Simmons thread. Let’s keep the thread on topic.

I’m not sure about the fit with Davis, and if he would even re-sign here. Obviously, how a player fits with Embiid is my primary concern.
I personally want to see them work with Ben developing a 12-14 footer this summer, and see him play less of a perimeter game in the halfcourt. Ben already has a good post game. Excellent defender. Tremendous in transition. He can distribute from the post. Seems to be a good rebounder...at least for a guy playing the point.
A lot of posters here don’t agree, but I think continuing to develop Ben’s game to allow him to be effective in a non-perimeter role would benefit the team more than trading him. Having a 6’10 power forward that can consistently rebound and run the break as one of the best transition players in the league, puts a lot of pressure on the opponent. He gives you an excellent ball handler and multi-positional defender who can get to the rim fairly easily.
Ben’s game has one huge, glaring weakness, and I think running him as the starting point, without the ability to shoot, isn’t going to work against a lot of playoff defenses. I would just keep working on his game this summer and add optionality to his role.

What's the point of having 2 star bigs in the modern game? Especially when neither can really space. If we move Ben, it's gotta be for a scorer on the perimeter that can shoot.

Embiid isn't going to last. You just prepare for the future with Davis.

Anthony Davis isn't the most durable player either. So your future is dependent on 2 bigs with injury concerns?
