Pascal Siakam is averaging 13 shots at the rim and has 3 total free throws. That is actually crazy. It's not like he's getting dump off dunks. He's driving to the rim on high volume and has one more free throw than Jeremy Lin.
Problem is neither Siakam or Kawhi flop to try and draw fouls... they're more focused on fighting through the slaps and grabs when getting to the rim. If the refs don't see some kind of adverse reaction impeding progress, they won't make a call.
After Augustin goes in for a layup, nine times out of ten he's lying on his back to draw a call... like FVV and Lowry.
Siakam and Kawhi both yell for calls, like they've done all year. They just haven't gotten them so far.
FTA advantage so far is Magic 22, Raptors 15.5. Magic are up about 3 FTAs from the regular season, the Raptors are down 6.5. A regular whistle and this is probably a 2-0 series right now.
Looking at the rest of the league, the Sixers have a huge FTA advantage over the lower seed +9.5. The Warriors have a huge advantage over the Clippers +6. The Bucks have a huge advantage over the Pistons +8.5. Even the 2 seed Nuggets have an advantage over the Spurs +2.5. All the high seeds are getting a favourable whistle. Every other series is close to even, except the Raptors are -6.5 to an underdog that drew the fewest fouls in the regular season this year.
I expect this to even out in Orlando. It's just too much of an anomaly. The Raptors have the points in the paint advantage (46-36), are driving the ball way more than Orlando (57-41) and are taking more shots at the rim (31.5-25).
