That’s a damn lie. Some of you guys need to get out and talk to people in Milwaukee. The demographics of Milwaukee alone go against that statement.

Anyone that went to the grand opening of the Fiserv Forum on that hot ass day this past August will tell you other wise.

Not to mention how packed the bars around Milwaukee are during the NBA finals. I remember going to a bar in Milwaukee during the 2016 finals (Stenys to be exact) and it was packed wall to wall with people. Very intense atmosphere between Bron Stans and Warrior fans.

Warriors fans and Bron stans aren't "NBA people." They're the exact same clowns who sold out the BC when Kobe came to town in their freshly dusted off Kobe jerseys. For the most part they bandwagon and throw out hot takes during playoff time while checking the standings once a month for the few months prior. As someone who frequents a lot of establishments on a pretty consistent basis, bars are NOT packed because the finals are going on, that's just not a thing.

The idea that people attending a grand opening of a big deal brand spanking new arena makes them basketball people of just an enormous stretch.

The Fiserv Forum crowd is too corporate and fans are priced out it's that simple. To project that the city of Milwaukee isn't an NBA city because of that is ridiculous. We've seen the same thing happen to the Warriors crowds the past 4 years with the regular fans getting priced out by the techies/casuals and we'll see it in full extent once they move to SF next season. It's that simple. There's certainly a difference of fan at the Fiserv Forum this year compared to the last couple seasons at the Bradley Center.

That's also my line of thinking here. The fans have been plenty loud even going back to last season. That game 3 vs Toronto two years ago was nuts as well. Hopefully that comes out again as soon as we play a challenging team.

I think there's also something to be said about being the underdog. Milwaukee fans like that and that's when the crowd has been really into it. We're just getting to grips with being the favorite.

They're not NBA people k? I guess most Packers fans aren't NFL people since people were giving away tickets this past season to Lambeau then using that same statement. I didn't know fans of arguably the greatest athlete of all-time or the greatest shooter of all-time aren't NBA people. That's news to me.

Completely agree.

But on the street, people are once again talking bucks, wearing bucks gear, and are genuinely excited about the prospect of a deep run.

I think there’s still 3 full decades of trauma to overcome before people fully let their guard down and accept that this is a legitimately great team. But that sentiment is growing.
Please reconsider your animal consumption.

100% agreed on bold. i've noticed a massive uptick in bucks conversations/hype in recent times, all over the state. i'm still not used to it to be frank. but i do get the feeling there are still many more fans who are just waiting to come out of the woodwork once the bucks make a deep run in this playoffs.

Maybe it's just me but I think this team is a lot more "exciting" than the Greg Monroe based slow motion offense under Kidd.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Our equivalent was the FTD season. I was at all three of those home playoff games and the noise was deafening. And that was with a crowd that knew we would likely lose because we didn't have Bogut.

This thing will roll into high gear very shortly.

The excitement question is an interesting one. Ponder this:

The 80-81 Bucks shot 131 threes THE ENTIRE SEASON. Interestingly they played at almost an identical pace to this year's team but they had 7341 2pt attempts vs 4337 for this year's squad. Also they shot way more free throws - 2340 vs 1904, they turned the ball over more often (15.7% TOV vs 12.1%), and they committed more fouls.

So was that style of ball more exciting?

How exactly are Packers season ticket holders comparable to guys who watch maybe 5 games all season long and show up to be loud and obnoxious when their guy is in town? That's not an NBA fan, that's a bandwagon fan. There's a colossal difference there, particularly as it pertains to building long standing support for one particular franchise.

Like, omg, Tiger is making moves at the Masters, maybe I should turn it on. Omg, Tiger won, wow that's great.

Does that make me a golf guy? **** no.

I don't have to reach back to one time in 2016, because I'm standing in these places on weekends on a regular basis to know that if an NBA game is on, nobody is really paying much attention.

With that being said, your casual Bucks fans are certainly becoming more and more common this year, and that's to be expected.

What an interesting topic.

I hate iso ball, and I'm pretty sure we have the most Dunkingest Freakiest player in the league, and threes are much better than turn around js.

The experience in the arena has changed a lot. There is too much stuff that gets hyped during the breaks. ..

The Grand Dancers, Young Bucks Dancers, Hoop Troup, Rim Rockers, Bucks Beats, Milwaukee Bucks Dancers.

I think the NCAA tournament is more attractive because when the game breaks they don't go full on pomp and circumstance. It's a chance to breath, talk to the people next to you and when the game resumes so does the event we came to see.

I dig Melanie Ricks energy she hosts the contests and is a supportive and positive fixture.

With Joe it's all big. Big belly, big hair, big mouth. I have hosted some small stuff and hyping ain't easy. Like two sugar free red bulls 20 minutes before go time. Keeping the mic right also isn't as easy as it looks when running around.

My suggestion is... when the side events come on... just nice soft intro. Ladies and gentlemen the blah blah blah.... they do their thing, and recognize outro. I think the casual fans probably feel more obligated to watch that... because they told you to ad nauseam.

I guess if I was performing as a dancer/rim/beats the more crowd attention the better I'd feel - But you're just a small part of the experience. I dont need to know 'lt's Billy Raaaayyyyyy with the doublllleee flllliiipppaaaarrrooooonnniiii Hhhheeeyyy!!!'
Just alternate different genres of 'energy chunes' play and let the crowd do as they please.

Use light more to influence atmosphere, changing levels really affects energy and is instantaneous.

And, some of the attendees (when they are there) really do suck. I know it will improve, but it is a little embarrassing frankly.
I needs shades for this future thing we owning..... 8-) 8-) 8-)

What exactly are you arguing about? I simply said Milwaukee has NBA fans and that the Fiserv Forum has been full of non-sports people due to the corporate atmosphere and it being the “hot thing” at the moment.

If someone likes LeBron, Steph, Westbrook, or whoever it doesn’t make them a person who “watches 5 games a year”. People have their favorites and considering how media savvy the NBA and the players are it’s not surprising.

A casual Bucks fan is different than a NBA fan who has their favorite player. I personally know several LeBron Stans from Milwaukee. One of my best friends is one of the biggest NBA fans I know and is a Paul Pierce Stan who has only been able to make it to the Forum in the preseason. I have season tickets and if I didn’t have them a lot of my NBA fan friends wouldn’t have gone to a game this year due to how expensive the Forum is.

As far as the Packers go we all see what happens when Rodgers gets hurt. Not to mention the Packers themselves are no different of a brand than the Lakers/Warriors or whoever that have fans all over the country due to prior success.

Not everyone who is a fan is able to attend games so when you have free events at the Fiserv or go to bars around town during game time you see the real fans. I’ve had numerous conversations with people that have said “the Fiserv is nice and I’ve been a Bucks fan for a long-time, but I have yet to attend tickets are expensive”.

Not to mention you’re gonna have NBA fans of other teams living here due to the Bucks been **** for so long.

Your Tiger comparison goes right on with what I’ve been saying about the corporate argument about the Fiserv. The Bucks have those fans now like it or not.

Where did I knock people for not attending games? You called someone a "damn liar" for saying that Milwaukee isn't a city full of NBA basketball people and trying to tie in how bars are packed in the city because the finals are going on. That that person just needs to get out of his bubble and talk to people. That's just not the case. Congrats, you were in Steny's in 2016 and some people were watching the game. Bars aren't packed in June because it's the finals. Bars are packed because it's summer in Milwaukee.

It wasn’t “some people” watching the game, the whole bar was full with everyone watching with people literally talking **** to each other, an intense atmosphere. Just because you don’t get out of your bubble doesn’t mean others in Milwaukee are the same. If the argument was Wisconsin isn’t a NBA state I can hear that, but don’t just say Milwaukee isn’t an NBA city. Those corporate and casual sports fans that sit in the 100 levels of the Fiserv don’t represent the fanbase.

I get out of my "bubble" (which you have zero scope of to begin with) plenty, thanks. I'm not the one reaching back to one time in 2016 at Stenys, and citing a friend here and there that's a huge NBA guy! You can go to places in Bayview, Walkers Point, Riverwest, Third Ward, the East Side, etc. and the majority of the time 90% of the bar doesn't give a rats ass about the NBA Finals and it's been like that for years.

Again, where the did I state that the 100 level fans represent the fan base? I don't know why you keep pulling that into this.

Yeah, Milwaukee may be a basketball city, but I have way more UW/MU fans than Bucks fans in my work/social/family relationships. Basically, in any group I'm in I'm known as the one guy who likes the Bucks. If I had tickets to a Bucks game 2 years ago, I would know maybe five people who would be interested in going (Maybe I just don't have many friends :dontknow: )

I'm not sure what coke and stripper fueled brand of basketball you're used to watching, but if you find this team boring then you probably just don't like basketball in general.

As always, just trying to add some nuance. I don't really care for 42-38 football games either. There's a sweet spot of gratification that isn't this sensory overload NBA Jam basketball. The pendulum has swung too far when 20 point leads mean nothing. And I would posit that it probably leads to less crowd noise.

Why scream your head off when the opposing team has to call a timeout down 10-2 to start the game? We used to do that. Now we know the 1st Quarter score doesn't matter, and neither does the halftime score or the 3rd Quarter score. It's not the main reason, just another facet of the issue.
