Is it time to put this series out of its misery?

turns out Smart being out was not a blessing. Celts are better with any one player out as it gives the rest enough minutes to play in rhythm.

So NOW Nate lets Tyreke play in the 4th when he’s ice cold. Holy ****.

These refs are also doing us no favors.

Evans plays alone... that is not how we can beat the Celtics

my formula had it first to 90. Hayward's 3 point play gave them 90 and it was downhill from there.

the silver lining is it is clear that we need changes.

It's really concerning that yet again our bench failed us in a series. On paper, we should have one of the better benches in the league, yet every single one of our guys except for 1.5 games of Tyreke were nearly useless. I have no idea what was up with Domas. CoJo/Doug did about as expected.

Also concerning that we were clearly gassed last game and yet Nate decided to shorten the rotation. I get that it was do or die so he wanted the best guys on the floor, but we had an 8 man rotation all game outside of the spot minutes from Holiday in the 2nd.

And I think Thad may have lost some money this series. He was fine in general, but his deficiencies were magnified (same as Domas) and honestly, we can't have our frontcourt perform the way it did against Boston's. Horford is the best of both teams, but Baynes and Theis are bench players at best.

interesting that when Holiday was paired with CoJo, Aaron played off the ball. Paired with Evans, he played point.

This series reminds me of a couple yrs ago when George was still here and we got swept by the Cavs, we were in the games for the most part, could have won a couple, but In the end we just couldn't get over hump.

It's his only trick.

Well, Nate stays as the ownership will not fire him ,lose money and pay more new coach.
In the end it doesn’t matter as first round exit evntually second round exit is and will be Pacers ceiling as long as owners do not spend money to sign and overpay a couple of star players (needed to get them to come to Indy)
These days all top teams pay luxury tax, there is no way to compete for the title if you are not deep in tax teritorry,
I expect Boggie to be re-signed. Collisson and Mathews let go. Pacers will likely replace them with who they can afford.
with Vic back and healthy next year Pacers will again be play off team with a shot to go to the second round.
Thats reality, unless scouts draft super talent like Toronto did with Siakam at 27

I think he stays too, but I think the reason is his relationship with Pritchard and not a decision by the Simons.

I think the big question going forward remains how effective Turner and Sabonis can be together. today Nate gave a number of minutes playing them with three guards. perhaps that's the future particularly if Bogie gets a big offer.

With the salary cap, we cannot “overpay” star players. They’re getting the max from any team they would like to go to, so they go to the cities they prefer. It’s not like we could’ve paid Lebron or Durant $50m and just chose not to.

I got no problem with Nate. This team is over-matched against the Celtics and there is nothing a coach is going to do about it. This series tells us this group won't compete with the upper echelon of Eastern Conference teams. The thought that Vic coming off a horrific injury will change that is silly.
