Pat wants to retire, not start a new project. He is trying to retire while having the organization with a good foundation. Either when the Heat find that foundation player or when people are ready to move into certain positions when he retire. Haslem, Wade and Spo will move into new roles off the court when Riley steps down.

I agree, Riley is not leaving HIS franchise in Miami to start a new long one with the Lakers as President. Then he has to "stick" with the GM he inherited and possibly the coach LeBron chooses. Not Riley's way. He would need FULL control of the franchise or nothing. Are the Lakers willing to clean house and let ANYONE build from scratch? I just don't think they have that kind of time LeBron in his mid 30's. The only way I see Riley helping the Lakers is if he retires from his President position in Miami, moves to his home in Malibu and takes a "consulting" role with the Lakers similar to what Jerry West had after his retirement.

I do wonder how Spo feels about coaching. He does have the opportunity to be the all time leading coach in wins seeing as he started so young. He is 48 (Pop is 70) and is 30th all time, with 523 wins. All time leader is 1335 (Don Nelson), though assuming Pop does another 2 seasons winning at least 45 each (he is 90 behind), it will be him. So Spo could, if he manages good 50 win type teams, get there in around 16 seasons (64 years old). I wonder if Coaches think of those kind of ego stats, but Spo has an upper hand in it.

I do not think Spo is a born to be coach type person. Individual coaching mile stone likely do not motivate him. He seems like a person that would rather have an executive position.

Kokosov fired by the Suns. If Juwan goes, be happy to bring him on as an assistant to help our offense.

GM hires Team Slovenia coach. Has best Slovenian prospect ever to come into the NBA draft and passes on him. Coach gets fired. Makes sense

Conley? Lmao. Guys, SUPERSTARS win in the NBA. Nothing more, nothing less. The ONLY times we won we had hmmmmmm guess?? Lebron Wade Bosh. True superstars. The team winning now and the last 5 years been Warriors, Curry KD. Guys like Mike Conley or Jimmy Butler or Jabari Parker ain’t gonna do squat.

How did we start becoming a championship team? By sucking that’s how. We sucked bad enough to land a guy like Wade. Stop trying to build an nba champion any other way. Either you draft your superstar, or you get him any way possible. But until you get one, A REAL ONE, don’t waste your time trying to win. Cuz you won’t.

Just like in the NFL. Look at the past 40 champs. All but 4 teams had SUPERSTAR Qbs. None of this Tannehil crap. Stop wasting time with the fake tier 2/3 stars. That’s not how you win. That’s how you line Mickey Arisons pockets and nothing more.

There is less than 10 guys in the league that can change our direction from treadmill to real contenders. At the moment we have no way to land any of them. Go to the lottery, suck. Only then will things change for the better. Conley is a bandaid and nothing more. And overpriced bandaid at that

we are talking about it in 2 other threads, but not this one. Would love to know your rationale for reading those and then coming here to post.

Genuinely curious, not trying to be rude.

If he opts out. But I don't see how or why they would trade for him.

Can we please just lock this thread & contain the offseason chatter in the offseason thread?

I can't believe the "Riley should go to LA" crap I've been reading these last few pages. My God.

Return to Miami Heat
