Thats the problem with a Hammons hire - it would win the news cycle but with the instability, hard to think she would want the job.
I wouldn't be a fan of the hire. Not that it's right but I really think to succeed as the first woman head coach she needs to coach a vet team and probably specifically SA where the players know and respect her. Putting her with a bunch of young immature players is a recipe for a disaster and a PR problem.

Yeah, it's a recipe for disaster when she ultimately gets fired.

This is just my assumption. Just have to think for them to do this after 1 year on a terrible roster that certain guys complained to Jones.

That was my first thought....because of the timing. Ashley Nevel liked an old tweet I had responded to her when she tweeted he would probably be gone and it wasn't fair to him if so. I asked her last night if she thought it had to do with a player complaint.

My thought was someone probably expected him to be fired...probably Booker, and when it hadn't happened up until now the agent contacted the team asking about it or expressing concern.

This is obviously just my speculation but if so It's just a bad situation because I think Booker got about as bad example as you can from coaching under Watson, giving him full control....probably not really trying to coach him much, and the team does everything it can to appease Booker.

Anyway, I had thought Igor would probably be fired but kind of stopped thinking about it thinking maybe he would be safe since it didn't happen quickly but I shouldn't be surprised.

I had thought that our team regardless of coach, barring massive roster changes, will have a hard time improving a lot next year so Igor would have likely been gone anyway, so in that case at least they will realize they need more help.

Obviously, by default, we should be about 12-15 games better just with a decent PG, health, more roster balance and the rookies improving.
Obviously this is all speculation but I do find the lack of any response from players on this team a bit of a red flag pointing to this being true. And hypothetically if Booker and/or Ayton had their agent push for this it would have really put the organization in a tough spot.

If he ever does leave it wouldn't be for the Suns. Maybe if Philly moved on from Brown or something.

I saw that you replied to her on twitter but Ashley Nevel was right

I am guessing she got lucky ...

I have always sensed she has some insight. I am curious how and from who but she is very careful.

Great news - at least I hope that is what this means.

James Jones probably has contacted already with Monty Williams and knows that he will be our HC next season.

We fired Kokoskov today because we knew who is gonna be his replacement just a few hours ago. It is makes sense...but at the same time a lot of things in this organization don't makes sense, so who knows.

Well apparently the Lakers are still conducting second interviews, though I always kind of felt Monty was just "the other guy" and that LeBron already said he wants Lue but they wanted to make it look like there was a process.

The news about us firing Igor to target him when he was in the second round interview with a much more prestigious job coaching the biggest star in the league sounded a bit ridiculous for us.....but I guess that's par for the course.

Game of Zones instead of there being a House Suns they should just make the Suns the White Walkers/wights with Sarver as the Night King.

Already did that with Spurs and Celtics (Pop and Brad Stevens as NK).

I feel like Koko had this coming due to his inexplicable under-utilization of Ayton during long stretches of games. Can't have that.

Let's take this a step further. After the new HC hire and go for broke - let's package Booker and picks to move up in the draft to snag both Morant/Zion if the opportunity presents itself. Only a matter of time before Booker wants out.

I am not sure why anyone would take anything Gambo says seriously. He either makes stuff up or says exactly what the FO tells him to...or says he talked to people around the league and reports their speculations or questions or thoughts as facts.

I'm not too upset by the news. I often wondered during the season how much better the Suns would have been if they just kept Jay Triano as coach and held on to Elfrid Payton. I think they would have won quite a bit more.

The team underachieved even taking the roster into consideration and looks like Igor is not a players favorite, so not surprising he was fired. Now hire a proven coach like Joerger, at least there is already an excuse of him not getting along with the front office on other teams when he's gone in a year :D

I think I figured it out. Players felt like Prunty was the head coach so Sarver felt like "Well lets just make him the head coach then! We can bring in a someone else to interview...who's interviewing for the Lakers? Monty? Bring him in but Prunty is our guy!"

Note they haven't gotten rid of assistants.

That last point is valid. I doubt Monty Williams would want somebody else's staff. So, yes, they will hire a cheap assistant that will have Prunty, Williamson and McMillan on staff. Or maybe just Prunty. Or maybe Jason Kidd as he worked with Prunty in Milwaukee

They probably just don't want to pay multiple assistants so would want to see if new coach would want assistants...there could be value there just to learn impressions on players. Most coaches will want new staffs though so the players won't go to old assistants..especially if what Gambo reported was true..Prunty acted as if he was head coach....and knowing Sarver, in the back of his mind Prunty may be the fall back plan.

I will listen to Gambo at 2pm today - just to see what new information. But its just odd that somebody actually thought Igor was the right coach for what is being reported as a more "veteran roster."

I will still be a fan - just so frustrating to have such a low level of competence. Maybe Jones changes that with Bower and Bukstein. But Sarver had Gentry, Kerr and Griffin and totally bleeped that up. So I don't have much faith in him.

Kellan Olson was on with Bickey and Marotta - -or the guys doing the show today (it was supposed to be football for four hours) - but Olson mentioned the need for a top 3 pick is now needed more. I am just not sure I agree. If they want to get to the playoffs in two years, - I think they need to get a more veteran PG.

While keeping the assistants (for now) definitely leads to Kidd speculation it's pretty much standard procedure in pro sports to not fire them until you hire the new coach and let him make that call.
