This was more about how bad the jazz are on offense. So many missed wide open shots

Mostly by Ingles tho which are the ones they didnt want.

I dont think Houston cared about the other guys shooting open shots besides Mitchell

Houstons defense was suffocating this series

The Rockets got 3 steals in 30 seconds to close the game.

This is probably the worst Paul has been offensively since his 2nd year and yet the best he’s been defensively probably ever. He’s in that Dallas J-Kidd zone where he’s lost a lot of value as a creator but he’s still a huge impact player with his defense, passing, and coaching on the floor. Haven’t watched game 5 yet (I will today) but this is a master class in affecting the game defensively as a guard. Every single handoff or ball screen against Paul is blown up, to the point where the Jazz just stopped running it with his man. That means all the other guys on the floor are out of sorts because they aren’t getting the ball in the locations or timing that they’re used to. Doesn’t really matter how “open” their shots are, it’s a lazy take to say the Jazz are just missing shots because the Rockets are so good at making those actions as difficult and uncomfortable as possible.

Same thing as vs the Warriors last year in game 4 and 5. Not only was Paul hounding Curry, he knew exactly what play GSW was going to run and cut it off before it started so they just stopped running plays and let KD iso. Curry missed a lot of “open” shots in that series which tends to happen when you’re hearing footsteps.

As good as he is now defensively, he was on another level when he was younger. His laterall quickness was excellent.

His series against the Warriors in 2014 was one of the best defensive performances of any PG ever.

2014 was also the year he guarded MVP Durant one on one and gave him fits. I remember watching that series completely shocked, he was giving up 10 inches in height but still bullying the Snake to the point he made it look like their heights were reversed.

Sometimes I feel like he has become a borderline role player on offense. Just standing around watching Harden jack up shots.

This is the biggest difference from last year's team. CP was an actual offensive threat last year alongside Harden. Now there's little balance between them. It's just Harden throwing up 30 shots a night and everyone watching him. Even on a night like tonight where Chris' shot is actually falling for once, he still stands in the corner.

To make matters worse, the Paul + bench lineups are no longer effective because he doesn't even pretend to be aggressive. If the clock is running down then he forces himself to try to make a tough shot but besides that he just fades into the background smh.

I enjoyed last year's team so much more than this year's, which is why I haven't followed as much throughout the season. But they still have a shot at this thing.

Even with all the issues with his shot and scoring in general; he had been really good at keeping Houston's pace up and not letting them get so bogged down in a half game. This was a really low energy game from him.

If he's not going score he has to least selectively push the pace. I know Houston wants to turn this into a rock fight, but still.

Someone reported that he may have had a nagging injury. Not sure if confirmed

I was just thinking about it...Kevin Durant is the biggest hindrance to CP's career.

He's declined so much as a shot creator. Just very little pop to his game right now.
