I'd be in favor of this if we can't retain Ed. As MGrand said, Ed was really solid for us on both ends of the floor.

I don't mind keeping the 5 spot solely for rebound/finish bigs and not floor spacers. we can dedicate the 4 spot to that.

But I don't think this is a bad idea at all since Dedmon is a system fit player.

Dedmond would cost more then Davis, and will get opportunites to start elsewhere. i dont see it although im a huge dedmon fan and would be all for it

I don't see it either tbh. And its not like Big Ed is some slouch so I have no problem kicking the tires.

Ed's fine. He performed well these playoffs before going down with that ankle injury.

Jesus, you're good at being an annoying f-cking poster.

  wtf ? what did I ever say wrong ?

That was pretty harsh of me, and I apologise.

I get frustrated sometimes by what I consider to be fan overreactions, but it's not really down to any one person. I'm sorry.

lmaooo na it's cool I didn't take it serious, I was just here wondering what else have said that was annoying..

In my opinion, Nets need to land a star, if not then a stop gap player. I just don't want them to overpay a guy like Crabbe again. They were willing to sign Otto Porter to a max deal even though he would of been super great here. Also Tyler Johnson signed a offer sheet with us. I just think we already have all the role players we need and it's time to get better. We can never go wrong with having more wings tho. We need a backup 4 and 5 now that Ed Davis and DMC might be gone.

Those offer sheets were made during a significantly different phase of the Nets rebuild. There was loads of cap space at the time, loads of player development to be done, and in general it was a good time to take a risk on a project player.

The situation is far different now, with much more specific needs & challenges. The last thing I expect is for Marks to speculatively hand out a bunch of money this time around.

I don't think there's anything to worry about on that front, altho that still doesn't mean the Nets will get exactly what they want in the FA pool. The DLo contract situation could get dicey, as well. Nothing to do but to watch & wait...

I would not match a max for Russell and I would probably be looking to sign and trade him if I were the Nets

I don't think, going to Suns for exemple is better even for a max contract

Suns can’t offer him a max contract even if they wanted to. They have hardly any cap space.

I'm all in on KD. No other player. I would like to see RHJ come back on $2-3mill a year.

NetsFan has done a good breakdown. The one posted by DeRoma is mostly correct, though he made some assumptions with the Russell contract.

I'll post a summary if no one does it, but between NFL draft, Endgame, and GOT....

The guys in the exit interviews sounded really excited about working on their game in the offseason. The core really made a nice leap this year. If Allen and Rodi can bulk up, we could REALLY be in business with or without free agents. I think those guys have really high ceilings.

There is no scenario where the nets wouldd be put in postion to match a contract for russell.

they either agree to terms with russell before free agency, use their cap, then go over the cap sign russell or the renounce russell to try and make space for 2 max deals.

The nets want him back, they will surely give him the max if thats what it takes and he is certainly worth it (Based on age/production/accoldades/playoffs). no one in russells position has ever failed to get the max, coming off what he just did.

in either event its highly unlikely he is traded since he wants to be back and the nets want him back and there is no scenario where the nets have to match an offersheet since if he gets to the point the nets would have already renounced him

The full MLE is for over the cap teams. If you’re using cap space, you lose it and get a smaller room MLE instead.
