Whiteside? Really?

Most Raptor fans would likely tell you he’s better than Lowry now and the 2nd best player on the Raps and there’s a bunch of names on the bottom of that list I would argue aren’t even debatable. I think at worst, he’s in or around the 30th best player right now but some people will call me biased.

But I’m curious how the worst team in the league with 19 wins did so with 2 top 45 players? Hmm.

Whiteside is definitely on the lower end but I give him props because the era isn't exactly helping him either.

Yeah I'd have Siakim just above 30, I just don't know exactly where. Point is I gave Siakam high-praise in my initial post (comparing him to Sheed) but that's probably been lost now.

Phoenix is a mess, they have no team defensive identity. You have to acknowledge that, it's not fair to put that on the young guys who are of high quality. I wouldn't trade either for Siakam though, if that makes you feel better?

I saw your Sheed post and thought it was a really good cross-era comparison. Bigs play the game so much different now than they did in previous eras that there aren’t many (any?) players who are comparable in terms of playing style. But I can see a similar — good at many things, great at none, weak at none — game and overall impact which was Sheed.

This list is horrible

Anyone who'd take Derozan over Siakam TODAY is going purely off hype/name/reputation/past accomplishment.

There's a lot of bias by Raptors fans here for sure, plus a lot of recency bias because he's been playing so well the past 5 games (which probably matters even more), all in all there's a LOT of bias.

That being said at the end of the day, I gotta say Siakam is probably somewhere around if not exactly the 30th best player in the league. Fast forward to the start of next season though? There likely isn't 30 players I'd take before him.

Yep, I'd say both are the ideal stretch 4 of their respective era. I like very much how they don't have any exploitable weakness but still have some go to offense moves that are difficult to stop and yet they are both better defensively.

Gallo was definitely one of the top 30 players in the league this past season, anyone saying otherwise wasn’t paying attention.

You picked the wrong guy out of that list to make your smart ass comment about.

Hindsight is an odd thing, old threads being revisited don't always provide a good analysis of previous posts.

Gallinari was amazing this season (this season might just be better than his 2016-17 season in Denver) but I'd rather have Siakam over him. Especially considering that Siakam scored a ton of points efficiently in the playoffs against the one team he was supposed to struggle mightily against (Orlando Magic), while Gallinari hasn't been good at all in the postseason.

That’s a fair take, I just don’t understand why the other poster thought Gallo was the worst player among those 45 names. He’s not even close to the bottom.

it depends how you look at it

current performance vs player outlook

Siakam is younger while Gallinari is probably the most injury prone player on the list which reduces his appeal significantly

has not played 70 games in a season since 2012 (7-8 years ago)

In what world is he better than LMA who's led teams to the playoffs numerous times? Or Beal? Harris, Harris, Middleton, Kemba or even Horford? Get a grip.

Of Minimum 28mpg players

Siakam: #19 rpm, #20ws48, #22 bpm

And he did this as the #2 option on one of the elite teams in the league.

Pretending that he's not even top 30, when he's pretty clearly top 20, is just fooling yourself.
