There is no substance to Kyrie going to New York. Literally, there is no implication. It has all come from media chatter

I know, anyway if we make a topic about speculations(we have made a gazillion of those this year) people can post this BS there, this is a topic about positivity, I don’t get why some people likes to basically troll here...

Probably because a thread dedicated to "negative" (realistic?) posts would be deleted?

I think the rest of the C's playoffs may determine that. Or, Kyrie may have come to peace with his decision already, which has made him mellow out for his comments to the press, etc.

It will be hard for Kyrie to resist unless we win a title. Imo, him and Durant are just way too close and allure of the Knicks is big mostly cause of the market and NY being his hometown(definitely not the franchise as it's been trash for 20 years now)... I think he will be tempted, hopefully we either add AD or win the title, would prefer the latter....

And because him and Durant would win the East

No. There were three if not more. This was created to counter that and ended up a main thread because half the forum took a bunch of Ls on Kyrie (or anyone's) comments in the media impacting our play on court and subsequently stopped bumping the hate threads.

Spolestra told the media about grown men crying a few minutes after it happened. He wasn't lying to get guys amped as we saw Bosh at the end of the finals later that year crying as he walked into the locker-room.

Jordan punched Kerr.

That **** doesn't matter. Playing ball does.

Make the Kyrie hate thread if you want. I would start and end on F.R.I.E.N.D.S.

Meh, having two threads about Kyrie seems unwarranted. Why not just post everything Kyrie related in one thread and have mods delete all the obvious trolling posts?

Shams Charania wrote:The Los Angeles Clippers made a preliminary trade call to the Boston Celtics before the trade deadline to inquire on the availability of Kyrie Irving.

The call came before the Clippers traded Tobias Harris to the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Celtics quickly said they were not interested in discussing a trade of Irving.

Irving will be a free agent this offseason and the Clippers figure to have enough cap space to sign two max players.

What are the cases of a major NBA star signing as a FA so that he can, for the first time as a pro, play in the metropolitan region where he grew up?

Note: I phrased that to exclude Lebron RETURNING to the Cavs.

I can't think of any offhand, although there's likely been a case if only through sheer random chance.

None that I can think of. There's far more evidence that NBA stars avoid going home than them going. Too many people they grew up with looking for handouts. Too much pressure. Too many fake friends

Not that many major NBA stars sign elsewhere in free agency so it's kind of not that great of a sample. Here are all the current guys who signed a max on a team they weren't already on:

Gordon Hayward (grew up in Indy, who had no space for a max deal at the time)
Horford (no Dominican NBA team yet)
Kevin Durant (grew up near DC, who has no cap space at the time)
Harry Barnes (Iowa)
Aldridge (signed in his home state of Texas)
Enes Kanter (Switzerland doesn't have an NBA team)
Chandler Parson (would Miami/Orlando have really wanted to give this guy the max?)

All I can find with a quick search, maybe there are more?

Most guys just sign with the team they are already on, or they join up with their buddies potentially like LeBron/Wade/Bosh did. Very few players are saught by all teams to be given the max anyway. Maybe 20 players in the NBA right now who, if they were deemed FA, every team would submit a max contract to them.

I'd be happy to include guys who forced nominal sign-and-trades, and to go all the way back to Grant Hill, Tracy McGrady and Shaq.

Dallas is far enough from San Antonio that I wouldn't call that a match, but good find anyway. Thanks!

Edit: TMac is actually an example. He went to high school 50 or so miles from Orlando.

There was a time of the season from Janyary to March day one particularly that some posters felt entitled to open topics everytime KI released an interview or there was a baseless speculation out there, there was an official Kyrie Irving thread flooded with 2000 post of the same 10 person writing the same thing all over again, there where also multiple topics open from the same people with shots at Kyrie in the title. Green89 started thiss topic like a shelter because the hate spread on a Celtics player, the best player of the franchise in a long time, from Celtics fans was frankly UNBEARABLE, still someone of the "haters" posted on here and eventually started to ONLY post here because the team started going well and to post in an "hate only" topic would have revealed their nature(of Toronto fan inside, maybe they don't even know themselves)... So we are used to disrespectful people who don't care about education but to quote bogus articles for some Irving shaming during the PO is frankly too much.

Notable New Yorkers that played in the NBA in bold the ones who played in the NY area:
Michael Jordan*
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar*
Julius Erving*
Carmelo Anthony
Bernard King*

Donovan Mitchell
Billy Cunningham*
Charlie Scott*
Bob Lanier*
Kemba Walker
Stephon Marbury
Jamal Mashburn
Tiny Archibald* for 34 games
Connie Hawkins*
George Thompson
Chris Mullin*
George Carter for 1 season
Roger Brown*
Jeff Ruland
Gus Williams
Randy Smith
Lenny Wilkens*
Brian Winters
Elton Brand
Rudy LaRusso
Tobias Harris
Clifford Robinson for 3 sad seasons befor retirement
Andre Drummond
Lamar Odom
Tom Gugliotta
Christian Laettner

This is done starting from sometime in the sixties and based on basketball-reference database.

So yeah, I can't see all this eagerness to play in NY from players that are from the area.

I hate you guys so much. But I hope Kyrie stays because I also hate New York. I know the NBA is going to give them Zion, and I don't want to live in a world where KD/Kyrie/Zion (or AD if they trade the pick) are playing together on a New York team.

That is all.
