My 2nd favorite pick in this round behind Oruwariye to the Lions.
Back-to-back Hurricane picks for the Cowboys - DE Joe Jackson. Another target of mine.
I was gone for a couple hours... just getting back. How about Gerald Willis II?
Available. Extremely interesting background.

There is still an absurd amount of talent available at WR IMO. To get some of these guys at 170+ is ridiculous.

Some teams reportedly had him as a press corner. WAYYYYY too many missed tackles on his record.
He’s a project, IMO. Great athletic ability, but he’s raw. Usually not the combo’ you want in a DB, but he could be a good starter for ‘em if he pans out.

Last pick of the 5th on the clock. 49ers have 3 6th round picks.

Patriots draft punter Jake Bailey
https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/04/27/patriots-draft-punter-jake-bailey/
The Patriots already have a solid punter in Ryan Allen, but they may have drafted Bailey more for his kickoffs than his punts. Bailey was excellent on kickoffs at Stanford and it’s possible that the Patriots will have Allen punt, Bailey kick off and Stephen Gostkowski handle field goals and extra points, with all three of them active on game days.
Good luck with that.
Allen is a FA after this year, too.

There'd be depth but they'll all be terrible so it'll be terrible depth.

Re: 2019 NFL-Draft Thread, Days 1-3 From Nashville
KeeSean Johnson to the Cardinals.
Went to the same high school as former Fresno State WR and current Packers WR Davante Adams.
Very good improvement from year-to-year over 4 years. Good, not great athleticism (didn't test very well athletically). Tracks the ball very nice. Good body control and good route runner. Physical to disengage at the top of his route. Very good catch rate and has several one-handed catches. Puts hands up late in the redzone as to not tip off the defender. Uses body to shield ball away from defenders. Powerful runner and will not go down easy and has balance.
Needs more physical development. Not much of a deep threat. Separation skills aren't great. Will need time to work on developing more of an advanced route tree (30.8% slot rate in 2018).
Very good week of practices at the East-West Shrine Game.

Mitch Wishnowsky had a 5th round grade for several pro scouts supposedly and the Pats traded up to take the next punter so it's not HORRIBLE. But a PUNTER in the 4th??????
I like Dre, if he can stay healthy he could be ideal.

KADEN SMITH | Stanford 6050 | 255 lbs. | rSO. Flower Mound, Texas (Marcus) 4/24/1997 (age 22.02) #82
BACKGROUND: A four-star tight end recruit out of high school, Kaden Smith was a varsity starter in football and basketball at Marcus, growing up outside of Dallas and idolizing Jason Witten (why he wears the No. 82 jersey). He convinced his coaches to keep him at tight end over moving to the offensive line and finished his prep career with 144 receptions for 2,260 yards. Smith was named District MVP and First Team All-State as a senior with 57 catches for 917 yards. He started receiving scholarship offers as a freshman (Clemson) and was considered the No. 2 tight end recruit (behind Georgia’s Isaac Nauta) in the 2016 class, committing to Stanford over Alabama, Texas and a dozen other programs. Smith chose to skip his final two seasons and enter the 2019 NFL Draft.
YEAR (GP/GS) REC YDS AVG TD NOTES
2016: Redshirted Recovered from January 2016 ACL and MCL surgery
2017: (14/2) 23 414 18.0 5
2018: (10/10) 47 635 13.5 2 Second Team All-Pac 12; Finalist for the Mackey Award
Total: (24/12) 70 1,049 15.0 7

COMBINE 6050 255 32 1/4 09 5/8 78 1/8 4.92 2.86 1.69 32 09’00” 4.47 7.08 15
PRO DAY N/A (stood on Combine numbers; positional drills only)
STRENGTHS: Ready-made size and bulk for the next level…large hands and strong to the football, attacking high and away from defenders…above-average hand-eye coordination and tracking skills (also an impressive juggler)…efficient quickness at the top of routes to maintain speed out of his cuts…always in attack mode, working back to the ball…finds soft spots in the defense…comfortable in a crowd…clean acceleration off the snap to threaten the vertical seam…high-effort blocker…shields
well in pass protection and as a run blocker with the balanced feet to hold up in space.
WEAKNESSES: Not an explosive mover or leaper…physical finisher but not a tackle-breaker or consistent YAC threat…only two touchdowns in 2018 and not a proven red-zone threat (two catches, zero scores in the red zone in 2018)…needs to load more ammo into his punch to decisively extend and drive defenders…needs to improve his blocking technique to better sustain…missed the final three games with a foot injury (November 2018); tore his ACL and MCL playing basketball his senior year in high school, requiring surgery (January 2016).
SUMMARY: A one-year starter at Stanford, Smith took over the starting duties from Dalton Schultz and lined up primarily inline and in the slot, finishing 2018 as one of only eight FBS tight ends with 600-plus receiving yards despite missing three games. He was groomed in an offense where blocking is celebrated and will be the sixth Stanford tight end drafted in the last eight years. As a blocker, Smith has clean feet and the competitive mentality required, although he will benefit from continued development of the details, especially with his handwork. As a pass catcher, he doesn’t have the explosive traits to uncover at will, but he is coordinated out of breaks with vice grips for hands, meaning he is open, even when he is covered. Overall, Smith has adequate blocking skills and route athleticism, but his above-average technique at the catch point is what separates him, projecting as an NFL starter.

I rather wait for Preston Williams as an UDFA. But Kelvin Harmon is someone I really really want... I’m assuming he’s no longer available.

Was asked to block more than most college TEs. However, his 7 catches of 20+ yards was the best in his class this year. 3rd best deep receiving yards in his class. Most slot receptions among TEs in his class and 2nd most slot TE yards in his class.
Drops can be a bit of a problem. I don't think he'll ever be a great blocker. Needs a creative offensive mind. Not overly physically gifted.
Nothing terrible but nothing that great about him IMO. Low upside.

DRE GREENLAW | Arkansas 5114 | 237 lbs. | SR. Fayetteville, Ark. (Fayetteville) 5/25/1997 (age 21.93) #23
BACKGROUND: A three-star safety recruit out of high school, Keaundre “Dre” Greenlaw grew up in a tough family situation, which resulted in him becoming a ward of the state in the foster care system. At the age of 14, he was invited into the home of Brian and Naci Early, who eventually adopted him. Greenlaw was a three-year starting safety at Fayetteville, posting 119 tackles, 14 passes defended and four interceptions as an All-State senior. He added 11 catches for 240 yards and three scores on offense, helping lead the program to the 2014 state championship game. Greenlaw initially committed to Arkansas State, but flipped once Arkansas offered him during his senior year, moving to linebacker in college. His adopted father (Brian Early) is the defensive line coach at the University of Houston. Greenlaw accepted his late invitation to the 2019 Senior Bowl.
YEAR (GP/GS) TKLS TFL SACK FF PD INT NOTES
2015: (13/11) 95 3.5 1.0 2 1 0 Freshman All-American; SEC All-Freshman
2016: (7/7) 42 1.5 0.0 0 2 1
2017: (12/12) 103 1.5 1.0 0 2 0
2018: (10/8) 80 6.5 2.0 1 4 2 Team Captain
Total: (42/38) 320 13.0 4.0 3 9 3
HT WT ARM HAND WING 40-YD 20-YD 10-YD VJ BJ SS 3C BP
COMBINE 5114 237 32 1/4 09 7/8 77 1/2 - - - 33 09’09” - - 24 (no runs, shuttle or 3-cone – choice)
PRO DAY 4.73 2.69 1.65 - - 4.56 7.21 - (no jumps, bench – left hamstring)
STRENGTHS: Active in pursuit with consistent play speed…quick to key and diagnose, mirroring the runner across the field…safety background shows in coverage, floating in zones, undercutting routes and using angles to be disruptive…skillfully gets his head turned downfield and anticipates passing lanes…strong batting average as a tackler…beats blockers to the spot, sniffing out play design…voted a senior captain and his life experiences have taught him leadership and how to battle through adversity with the right attitude.
WEAKNESSES: Short and lacks ideal measurables…extends to meet blocks, but doesn’t have the length or point-of-attack power to each detach…tends to brace for contact instead of forcefully attacking climbing blockers…overaggressive style will hurt him at times, falling for misdirection or play fakes…shorter stature hurts his backfield vision at times…didn’t start vs. Vanderbilt due to a violation of team rules (October 2018)…battled several injuries over his career, including a high right ankle sprain (October 2018); suffered a broken right foot (October 2016) and missed six games and required another surgery on that foot in the offseason (January 2017).
SUMMARY: A four-year starter at Arkansas, Greenlaw earned a starting role as a true freshman, lining up primarily as a WILL linebacker as the Hogs varied their scheme the last four seasons. While he doesn’t have ideal size, length or burst, he is smart and puts himself in a position to make plays. Greenlaw flows well laterally and competes with relentless effort, but sticks to blocks and needs to prove that he’s reliable sifting through traffic for regular box work at the next level. Overall, Greenlaw is a small-framed player and will get knocked around near the line of scrimmage, but his cover instincts, range and impact on special teams can earn him an NFL roster spot.
