Re: 2019 Playoffs 2nd Round: Rockets vs Warriors
It's hilarious how most fans and analysts are saying the Warriors played a bad game and that we should have won, as if we played a perfect game ourselves. The fact is we played pretty bad and only lost by 4, that should be a good sign.
I probably won't be able to stay up and watch the entire game, but I think we got this. Go Rox!

Re: 2019 Playoffs 2nd Round: Rockets vs Warriors
if the only difference from game 1 is that the undercut fouls are called, the rockets will have a good chance. if the officials allow gsw to continue their defensive gameplan and undercut players, i think the rockets will tilt and gsw wins easily.
its the single thing other than individual shotmaking that determines how this series goes. it is also the biggest tactical in-game takeaway from the report houston assembled about the 2018 playoffs. imo if the officials dont call it, this series is not even close.
it should be an issue of player safety, and a point of emphasis going into game 2. the fact that those fouls weren't called last game is def suspicious, since gsw does have a history of abusing the undercut to gain both defensive and psychological advantage (we all know what happened with Kawhi, and remember Steve Kerr was teammates with Bruce Bowen on the Spurs, so he is very familiar with the conversation on undercutting and how players feel like it endangers their careers). however, with the rockets embarassing the nba and the officials yesterday, it wouldnt surprise me if gsw's favorable treatment from the officiating continues.
btw i know i'm new here. i am originally from houston but live and work in the bay area. i build a lot of basketball analysis models, so i've always had a soft spot for the rockets quantitatively focused front office. because of that, i feel like i see both sides of this situation, so i hope its ok for me to share my perspective here even though I wouldnt say i'm a rockets fan like you guys are.
edit: i wanted to add that i feel like the media narrative about the rockets "flopping" on their 3's in game 1 has been totally and completely wrong. many players are taught not to land with their full weight on their feet if there is anything under them, to avoid spraining or breaking an ankle. often when you see guys shoot a jump shot, get undercut, and fall, they are only trying to fall "safely" on their butt instead of their feet for injury prevention. i think some of the houston falls were exaggerated to make a point about the officating late in the game, but many of the early ones felt more like the above to me. just one man's opinion though.

This is gonna be a miserable game. The league basically is saying “this is what you get for complaining”

Get some sleep, we still have another gajillion hours before the game even starts.
Cole 45 and the Astros having some good times, though!
We watched the tragedy unfold. We did as we were told, we bought and sold. It was the greatest show on Earth...but then it was over.

Who’s the black dude sitting near the scorers table? Looks super familiar, like he’s a former Rocket.

Re: 2019 Playoffs 2nd Round: Rockets vs Warriors
indeed it sucks
the warriors saw the rockets struggles against the jazz physical play and the are just playing more physical than utah and the refs are letting them play that way that draymond green scratch on harden eyes was clearly on purpose we all know he is a dirty player not even a regular foul was call
i guess try to win the next game to avoid the sweep

I agree. He's a liability out there.
My optimistic side is telling me that we can still win this series. But realistically, probably not. We have no one that can guard Durant 1v1 and we would have to win 4 out of the next 5 games.
I can still hope though, right?
