Westbrook is going to Jack 30+ shots tonight. It's over.

I've watched 1.5 games of this Portland-Denver series.....seems that quite a few people were dead wrong about Enes Kanter being a liability versus other teams during the playoffs.

He's easily been Portland's 2nd best player this series.

Didnt you hear his advanced stats are bad ?!

Adams is better than him. Even with lower numbers.

it ain't analytics that has his ass on the bench. it's coaches. because they see with their eyes what the statistics tell us. because the statistics reflect what happens on the court. and kanter gives up more points on defense than he produces on offense. but fans don't care about defense

adams is WAY better than kanter. because (surprise, surprise), the guy with the lower counting stats often is. but people like you and russell westbrook fixate on points, rebounds and assists

here's the simplest stat of all to compare adams and kanter: adams is good on 2 ends of the floor, kanter only 1. and after they crunch the numbers, the advanced stats people will tell you that 2>1

Please give me the advanced stats comparison of our series vs Portland.

Adams was a non factor, on offense and defense.
He was benched during crunch time. Thats how important our 25 mil $ guy is to us.

so does one series define this for you? five games? regardless of the fact that we're ignoring the context here-- that enes kanter was free to do whatever he wanted in space offensively while portland could drop him in pnr coverage on screens because westbrook can't shoot. even ignoring that, are you prepared to make judgements on player value based on any five game sample? because we have dozens of those which show that kanter sucks and adams is far superior. and as far as i can tell, the opposing position has one.

since you're a basic stats guy, perhaps you could show me how adams was a non-factor using those numbers. because it looks to me that both he and kanter put up close to their standard numbers

per 36:

reg season kanter 20/15 59%ts
OKC series 16/12 62%ts

reg season adams 15/10 59%ts
portland series 13/8 65%ts

both had their scoring and rebounding decline w/ efficiency rising. kanter's #s arguably declined a tad more on the whole during that series

had OKC been running pick and roll w/ westbrook and adams all series long like they should have been to take advantage of kanter, adams would have scored significantly more points

2>1

Pick and roll with Westbrook was terrible because Westbrook has become incapable of hitting a mid-range jumper. Russ made Kaner look like a defensive stud because he could just wait at the circle for either Russ or Adams to show up and draw a charge or contest the shot. Russ has gone from holding OKC back from being championship quality to holding OKC back from being able to take advantage of a terrible defender! Russ shot UNDER 17% from 10-16 feet in the series!!!! Schroder running the P&R with Adams might have been effective because as bad as a shooter as Schroder is he is now better than Russ. Paul George running that P&R could have been a thing of beauty as PG could have just pulled when the defender fought through the screen.

We have reached a point where OKC is bad when Russ has the ball in his hands. His shooting is terrible. His turnover rate is terrible. His PER is at Steven Adams level. Anyone who says that Adams is overpaid and needs to go and doesn't say the same about Russ is either a complete hypocrite or has no understanding of the game of basketball. Rather to argue against Adams is right or wrong is irrelevant. Adams had a better WS/48 than Russ this year! The only argument you can make for Russ is if you somehow think points, rebound and assists are all that matter. If you believe that then Adams is good in all those stats for a center which means he is very good. If you are arguing efficiency and game impact and looking at salary then Russ is the first person you want gone from OKC.

Our side of the bracket is just full of mediocre teams. And we're sitting at home with one of the easiest roads to the WCF in recent history. :banghead:

Lillard+McCollum from 3 vs OKC: 43/92 (46.7 %)
Lillard+McCollum from 3 vs DEN: 16/53 (30.2 %)

You could set your clock on this.
