Scouting Report

Brewers: Gallardo turned in his second consecutive poor start when he got hammered for seven earned runs in 5 2/3 innings against the Cardinals his last time out. The 21-year-old gave up 11 earned runs in 2 2/3 innings in his previous start against the Rockies and has gone 1-2 with a 10.35 ERA in his past four starts. He sported a 2.18 ERA after his first eight appearances of the season -- five of them starts.

D'Backs: Davis has been on top of his game over the past couple of months. The left-hander has won his last five decisions and the D-backs have won his last seven starts. In his last outing, he held the Marlins to four runs over 5 1/3 innings. That line is a bit skewed because of a three-run homer he allowed to the last batter he faced, Cody Ross. This will be Davis' second start against his former team. He got a no-decision in Milwaukee in July when he allowed two runs over six innings.

Captain Erv's Thoughts: Well I have been pretty much one and done on game threads lately. I'm not even sure what to say about this team. I wasn't even surprised or mad for that matter about Sunday's loss to the Reds. I'm not sure if that is a sign that I've just come to accept the demise of this season. Anyway, this nine-game trip could be the final nail in the season.

Don't blame the offense for the 1-5. How many runs do you expect the brewers to score to win a game. Moving hardy to the 8th spot was a good idea.

As I said before, 10 runs the first 4 games of the homestand is not good offense.

I think thats doing pretty good to me. The pitching needs to step it up.

Seems rather mediocre to me. Scoring three runs a game will win you maybe half the games. 5 runs a game is a sign of a good offense.

3 is below the league average. 0 is Padre-esque. 4 USUALLY wins games, but don't always count on it. 8 and 7 is good, though.

So far this season only 6 teams have been

NYY Tigers philly Redsox rookies and laa.

If you average 5 runs you have a great offense. If you can average 4 runs I think that is a sign of a good offense. But I guess not with the brewers because of our issues with our pitching. The brewers though have averaged 4.7 runs. If I am reading my stats right tonight.

Eh, regardless of how you guys have played lately, Livan is a hitters dream. I think you guys will have no problem touching him up for multiple runs. Davis and Webb are killing it, though.

If you can average 4 runs I think that is a sign of a good offense.

No that's actually a pretty horrible offense. It would be 29th out of 30 this year behind only the Nationals who score 3.86 RPG.

0 is Padre-esque.

How freakin' lucky has he been?

The guy has a below league average ERA despite a horrible BB/9 ratio, high WHIP, average K/9 ratio, horrible K/BB ratio and average BABIP.

The only thing saving his ass is a slightly above average HR/9 ratio and a good LOB%
