Will You Cheer For Lebron James IF … …

Post#1 » by SlimShady83 » Fri May 3, 2019 9:07 am

Ok, ok, so this thread isn’t really for Lebron Fans more so for those of us – who never wanted him on the team OR weren’t really that excited and then turned sour on him through out the season <> you know who you are …

So, I’m curious to know

If Lebron James wins us a champion ship or 2 (I doubt it, but you never know) will you change your mind and cheer for him “EVEN AFTER” saying you don’t like him etc

Or will you cheer for Lakers, but not him?

How will your feelings be after he/If he wins a chip?

Pretty simple Q

I'm sorry but my vote goes to No as I'll never cheer for him - I have many, many reason why I don't like him (don't need to discuss)

I will cheer for him because he’s a laker. If he wins championships here then my respect for him will grow immensely. I have never been a big fan but I’m starting to like him more since that ig post. I do feel if he wins here he truly shows his loyalty. I hope for the best

It'd be easier to cheer for LeBron if he posted more about the Lakers than himself on social media... I happened to check his twitter and he's still repping Cleveland, and hardly posts anything about the Lakers.
He needs to win in LA and he needs to start putting the P&G out there more, before I'll really get behind him.
I still feel like he came here just as a way to increase his 'legacy' and has no real interest in increasing ours. So it's hard to be too big a LeBron fan right now...

Also, I kind of think he was pretty mediocre this season...

This is exactly how I feel. Well said.

And he did mail this season in like you said.

Watching the other four play defense won’t make you very popular in LA either. This may be glammy Tinseltown, but I hope LBJ isn’t ignorant enough to think there’s not a hard working never say die mentality permeating all of LA.

That leisurely defense stuff doesn’t fly around here. It won’t go unnoticed nor be forgot. You’re only as good as your last gig (game) around here. We’re spoiled with greats like West, Wilt, Kareem, Magic, Worthy, Shaq, Kobe. And Denzel, Samuel Jackson, Jack Nicholson and all the rest of the entertainment industry who are all consummate pros. To Angelenos, no effort is synonymous with losing. It’s a tough crowd. The star factor of LBJ carries less weight here than in any other town on the planet.

He’d better play defense from game one if he’s still here when fall comes. I’d rather trade him now.

LeBron is the best player this franchise has had since we traded for Kobe's draft rights. He's what the leadership wanted. I'll cheer for both of those things. His self-centeredness is not uncommon by any means in professional sports. Combine that with his generations seemingly need to be public with any and everything in their lives and we get what we have. Imagine if Magic had Twitter in the 80's for example.

I respect his game and his immense talent. He's fill in gaps in his game and has led teams to championships. Is he as intense as Kobe? No! Is he as single minded as Jordan? No! Is one of the greatest to step on the court? Undoubtedly! To me, our problem isn't with him.... it's with the attempt to mesh him with youth that is far from ready to be on a championship run at his age. I'll cheer when the leadership creates a team around him regardless of whether nor not we drafted someone.

He'll be 35 this next season. The defense thing is immensely exaggerated. I complained about his defense all season because of our roster construction and knowing what he used to be capable of. But overall he's a solid defender still, just not great like he used to be. First, I know what he's capable of in a playoff setting on the defensive end. You can't realistically ask a 34/35 year old player to anchor our defense for a full regular season. Age 28/29 yeah, but once a star hits 30 it's a decline. We had two guys in Lebron and Kuzma that disappointed in terms of stepping up and being a defensive anchor the way Randle did for us. We needed small ball to work a little and it didn't. Then we needed kuzma and lebron to play well together, which happened but only when starting with other good defenders (ball, Ingram, McGee when healthy).

The roster construction just has to keep in mind we're 6th defensively with lonzo and other defenders surrounding lebron. We're 30th without them.

But Lebron is a Laker. He's not my all time favorite Laker, but you gotta cheer for him cause he's an all time great and he's a laker.

OK.... I got to Randle and defense anchor and stopped. You do remember when he tried to actually play defense in the post right? He can keep up with perimeter player but he was completely out of his element in the post/paint. The Philly game was borderline embarrassing.

It seems like the first impressions of a player stick forever around here. Kuzma played better defense this year than last... he was put on opposing 5's by Luke for some insane reason but when he played his natural position he was adequate to good at times. Randle got a lot of praise for being a "big" who could guard on the perimeter... which he can but he was also a "big" who had serious difficulties guarding "big's" in the paint.

I think the focus and evaluation on individuals on defense is fairly useless in the end. Randle or Kuzma can be as effective or more than Ball or Ingram if the system is followed and implemented correctly. The idea that one player can anchor a defense with the modern penchant for shooting from 3 is a little outdated actually. Scheme, execution and effort is alway the top 3 in defense.

Yeah, no. Never said Kuzma was a bad defender, right there. I actually saw him become a mich better player on defense. But he just doesn't provide the grit to go out expend the energy to outhustle and secure the rebound and finish off the defensive sequences. In terms of what the team needed for 2018-19 he just didn't provide that skillset to get us to the next level. So in a way I am saying he's a bad defender in terms of what we needed with that roster construct. Not a help defender, not a guy who will step up to take a charge or close the lane down, and not a guy to chase down the 50-50 balls. But definitely improved 2nd year on ball and holding down his man. Kuz did a great job on the perimeter overall on the year like chasing Klay down for example. His ability when engaged mimics elder lebron's but Lebron does it better and more consistently.

I'd cheer for him if he gets a "D Lakeshow" tattoo on his left chest with his left nipple being the letter "O"...this tattoo would also be close to his heart, proof of his loyalty to the franchise.

ya'll gotta stop this corniness

facts:

we signed a 28-8-8 player (considered "down year").

we were 5th in the west when everybody was healthy.

but yall want to talk about twitter and instagram posts lmaooo

If he can put that massive ego aside and work for the benefit of the team rather than himself (doesn't even have to win the league, just a respectable playoff run), i'll cheer him.

After last season though, that looks unlikely. We got a poisoned chalice i feel, would have been better off just telling George that we won't sign Lebron and the team is his.

I became a LeBron fan when he chose the Lakers. And, I will continue to be one even if he eventually asks for a trade.

When no other stars seriously considered the Lakers for many years, he actually signed. He signed onto a team who hadn't made the playoffs in 5 years and with no proven talent. Whether he came for his business ventures or foolishly thought this team was more talented than it is, I appreciate that.

I wouldn't blame him for wanting out either. This team is a disaster. The front office situation is really shaky. I'm not a fan of the young core. Who knows how the front office is going to build the team? The Lakers' eye for supporting talent looked awful when they signed the likes of Rondo, Stevenson, and Beasley.

The Lakers need both a 2nd star and a better supporting cast, and I'm not sure that this front office is capable of pulling off both.

I am old school... superstars and the Lakers are like 2 peas in the pod... that’s Dr. Buss’ legacy... LBJ is a Laker and cheering for him is my privilege of being a Lakers fan... from Ralph Sampson’s last second shot heartbreak to Magic’s skyhook to win in Boston to Kobe to Shaq lob pass to put the game in the refrigerator to Artest’s dagger three... I cheer them all. The Lakers will once again rise from the ashes of this 6 yrs futility and there will be more than just one superstar fans will be cheering for, no doubt!
