Im at loss for words right now. I mean I am totally against this hire but I gave Antoni a chance, so I’ll give him a chance I guess.

This news isn’t very encouraging tbh...

Lakers should hire Lue, but they also need a strong staff so they need Lue to be okay with bringing in KIDD, Juwan, and Thibs imo. That’s how you show credibility as a team and staff. Maybe you retain Shaw as well if you want to. But Juwan has spent years in Miami so poach him and see what he knows from Riley and Spo. KIDD failed as a head coach but he also had a winning record and developed players and you need that with Ball and Hart regressing. Thibs isn’t a head coach if GM but he can be a defensive coordinator.

Lue alone isn’t good, even if he’s the right choice which I think he is. He needs 3-5 named assistants to show the first competent staff since Mike Brown left

The real downside of Lue is just having to listen to the GM LeBron talk, which isn't really too far removed from reality it seems anyhow.

He's actually decent. If you have a LeBron, you need a LeBron team, really

There is no cap for the coaching staff so there should be no excuse for them not to try and sign the top assistants of other teams. I don't mind Juwan but I can imagine Kidd backstabbing Lue every chance he gets. Yes, he has a winning record but most of it was bec he always had great players. You have use perspective too like Jeff Bzdelick lost 62% of the games he coached but he was a great defensive mind, helping the Rockets work on their biggest weaknesses. Rockets, were 21st in defense 2 yrs before he got hired and became 6th best last year. They just ranked 18th last season but mostly bec they missed Capella to injuries and Ariza to free agency, also note that he actually retired the first couple of months and they suffered big time without him. Houston actually begged him to comeback to re establish their defense.
I don't know if Thibs would agree to assist a HC plus his former team was really bad on defense, it just seems like he got exposed ever since he lost Ron Adams. Adams now has been great with GSW. I like Messina too from the Spurs.

I'm okay with Lue. Schematically, I like what he does offensively.

Defensively is where we're going to have to make our mark next season. We'll see what Lue does with his assistants to help in that regard. However, in my opinion, with Lonzo & Ingram on the squad, being a good defensive team comes down to one thing: The engagement of LeBron on that end of the floor. If he defends like he did in the stretch before his injury, we'll be a good defensive team. If he doesn't and we bring back Rajon Rondo, we won't be.

My concern with Lue is about getting free agents. If he's involved in the free agent pitches (which he should be), he's publicly stated in the past with his teams that LeBron is the focus and everyone else needs to fall in line to best support him, which will lead to better team success. How does that method and offensive direction resonate with free agents like Kawhi, Kyrie, Kemba or Klay?

Monty has great relationships with guys on the Olympic team and a lot of those guys will be free agents this summer. He's a great guy that's a phenomenal communicator. If I'm Kawhi Leonard (for example) and I'm sitting in a room with Monty Williams, I'm going to hear what he says and probably believe him. If Lue talks about changing stuff up from what he did in Cleveland to accommodate me, I'm not going to be completely sold because I know what his bread & butter has been in the past with LeBron James on his teams.

So LeBron, Lue, Pelinka, Joey & Jesse Buss need to figure out a game plan that's going to entice free agents. LeBron's pitch is going to have to be genuine and not "can you help me?" but rather, "I need you." And yes, those are the only people that should be involved in a pitch meeting. No Jeanie Buss, no Linda Rambis, no Kurt Rambis.

Lue is not my first choice, but i'll support him if he's named our new coach. We should all hope he proves most of us wrong.

There’s a ‘k’ missing in our coach’s first name.
Since the 1976 merger LAL 11, CHI 6, BOS 6, SAS 5, GSW 4

PG: Luka / Vincent / Bronny
SG: Smart / Reaves / Knecht / Mañon
SF: LaRavia / Rui / Thiero

Best option available I think. At least will cancel out the rumors that Lebron wants the coach out lol
But really if he could make the LA plays defense then we should be fine. I’m skeptical though ( I know that we have better defense players than the Cavs but still).

If they want to recruit Kyrie, I would ask Kobe to be there. He is one of the very few he respects a great deal. Also I would clearly point out that his highest points per game with Lebron and not without him including with the young Celtics. I would show many video clips how Lebron set him up for open shots and how they defeated a 73 win team.
If you recruit other FAs you just don’t mention career highs of Kyrie but also Mo Williams and the young career of Kuzma who could have easily averaged above 21 pts if he just shot his normal shooting average. That McGee also had had his highest scoring next to Lebron in the past 6 years.

Most of us knew this was gonna happen. We have become Lebron's Lakers. I came to terms with it.

I didn't want Luke fired and I don't rate Ty Lue at all but I like the guys over at Laker fil room and they changed their mind on him after reviewing his tactics. Perhaps I will too. Now that he's here, we gotta have his back and give him a team that can actually put him and Lebron in a position to succeed. How we do this off-season will probably determine the short term future of this franchise. There is no punting it to next summer left for us.

Hope he succeeds and we can bring back some respectability to our great team.

Lue is a good coach to me. He got a bad rep from fans for making dumb looks but he's really smart. One of the best at making adjustments in game and he understands pace and tempo and knowing when to adjust. He is one of the most flexible coaches which works great with Bron. Respected in NBA circles, besides, most fans are dumb like his expressions. They don't know what good coaching looks like.

I'm actually a fan of getting Lue. He has a rep for telling Lebron no and how plays are gonna be ran. I got mixed feelings on Lue hunting Thibodeau as his lead assistant. I like the no bulls*** effort on the floor performance he demands, but I worry about longevity of our players.

I actually would like to see Jimmy Butler on our roster too and I think Thibs would be an asset to bring him in. With Butler you know he's gonna play all out despite his flaws. I think he'll add to that idea of building a leadership that will challenge our guys and hold them accountable for lack of defensive effort.

I much rather see a more natural sg like butler at the 2 to balance the floor and move Ingram to the bench to fill that Ginobili type role. I doubt Kuz has another off year from behind the arc and I also see Lonzo and Ingram trending up from 3pt range as well.

I'll honestly feel a little better if we do get Thibs onboard. I know he has a rep of running players into the ground, but maybe Lue will overrule him and say chill out. I mean from what I understand he has the ability to say no, so saying no to Thibs should be easy.

Besides all that, Thibs is a great defensive coach for this young squad.

Woah boy. From a Cavs fan, I can tell you this guy is a certified idiot. His performance without LeBron is pathetic. Get used to him never playing young guys and giving all the minutes to 40 year old vets.

He is easily one of the worst coaches I've seen. Terrible rotations, refuses to play rookies, no play calling whatsoever, forgets he has timeouts (game 1 of last year's finals). I am truly shocked he is going to get another head coaching gig. Y'all will be hating this guy 2 months into the season.

This is just a schmuck who happened to be at the right place at the right time when Kyrie and LeBron decided to go nuclear in the 2016 finals to win the title.
