Re: 2019 NBA Draft Prep
General thought but I disagree with anyone calling this a weak draft. There are way too many guys outside of Zion that I would love to get and my two preferred FRPs changes like every hour.

Re: 2019 NBA Draft Prep
It's a strong draft. The last guy on my personal list is Samanic, and in most years, he'd be getting consistently mocked at #15 or so, imo... instead, he's charted anywhere from #25 to #40 in most of what I've seen.

It's not so much a bad draft, it just lacks some star power. But I think the 12 to 30 range is better than last year's in some respects.

Re: 2019 NBA Draft Prepio
Scenario - The Hawks somewhat luck out in the lottery and win the 3rd Pick. Williamson is of course taken #1 and RJ Barrett is taken #2 which is probably a 50/50 chance. Now, the Hawks are on the the clock and the best player available (At least, in most people’s minds!) is Ja Morant. But, Since the Hawks already have their PG for the present and for the future already on their roster in Trae Young I am guessing the Hawks would try to trade that pick. But, IF, the Hawks could not get an acceptable offer what do you think they would do (Even though it might be a Huge Drop Off they would select the next best player on their Board, Draft Morant even though they already have Young and try to work the two of them in their system/plans, Try again later to trade Morant, etc)?

Trade down with R.J. and Ja should always be an option

Yes he definitely should be. I’ve always loved the philosophy of BPA and he would be just that. Everyone keeps saying positionless basketball right? So why not a lineup like this..
Pg-Trae
Sg-Ja
Sf-Huerter
Pf-Collins/9th pick
C-9th pick/Collins
Our Marietta 5

Run people off the court with that lineup.

Re: 2019 NBA Draft Prep
I don't know what Schlenk will do. I'm anxious to see. But if he calls me, he already knows my recommendation is to first try to trade Morant to a team that he's projected to finish in the bottom 5 in 2020 for a 1st, and potentially even a little more than that.
"Positionless" if you're talking about 6-7 point guards is one thing... but the last time a backcourt of 6-2 players worked to any degree, it was in DET with Zeke and Dumars... and it was the 1980s.

Funny you say that because Trae reminds me of Zeke a ton, more of a Nash type but the will to win at any cost and playing bigger than his size, that’s Zeke all over again.
Having said that, Dumars are Ja are entirely different players. This would be more like the first pure point guard backcourt in history most likely.

It would never work defensively but I sell the idea till PHX or CHI offers something we can't pass up

Re: 2019 NBA Draft Prep
Chicago Bulls Fansided2019 NBA Draft prospects: Ty Jerome is the real deal
The Virginia guard had a phenomenal junior season. He averaged 13.6 points, 5.5 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game and was the leader of one of the greatest comeback stories in sports history. Virginia was a well-rounded team, but there’s no way they would’ve been on top of the basketball world in 2019 without their fearless leader, Ty Jerome.
Jerome wasn’t the best scorer, the most athletic leaper or the most talented player on the team, but he was the catalyst on both offense and defense. He was the engine that made Virginia go. He rarely turned the ball over (1.7 TOs per game), he was an efficient shooter from beyond the 3-point arc (39.9% on 5.4 attempts per game) and he was an incredible defender.
His lack of athleticism limits him in some aspects, but he uses his 6’5″ frame, wonderful court vision and unique floater package to find ways to impact the game offensively. He simply does a little bit of everything. He’s a floor general.
The back half of the first round isn’t where you’d typically expect to find a starting caliber point guard, but it’s been done multiple times in recent years. Dejounte Murray, Derrick White and Tyus Jones are all good examples of quality point guards selected in the later part of the first round. Those guys aren’t sure-fire All-Stars, but they’re solid players. And sometimes, solid is good enough.

Bruno Fernando looks like a member of the Heat to me. Although they have Bam, but that would be a big beefy front court no doubt. Kg approves. His BIL.

There’s some high potential bigs in the draft. Hachimura is a guy I didn’t realize is a super raw player. The glimpses I’ve caught lead me to believe he’s not quick enough to really play on the perimeter, but he could be a big time player at the 4.

Rui is definitely an NBA 4.

Re: 2019 NBA Draft Prep
Bleacher Report2019 NBA Draft's Top 10 Frontcourt Prospects
Sekou Doumbouya (France, SF/PF, 2000)
Sekou Doumbouya will have the project label during the draft, seeing as he's the youngest eligible prospect (turns 19 on Dec. 23) and enters the fray without significant production.
He's appealing because of his standout physical tools (6'8", 230 lbs) and the foot speed that allows him to guard both forward spots, though he'll have to clean up the occasional lapses and missed reads.
Otherwise, he's made noticeable progress as a shooter, hitting 35.7 percent of his threes in France since November 17. Doumbouya's jump shot looks fluid enough to inspire belief, particularly given his 76.5 percent free-throw mark.
In 33 games between Eurocup, Jeep Elite and Leaders Cup, he's also converted 58.7 percent of his two-pointers and displayed flashes of raw scoring versatility off drives and post-ups.
The eye test and numbers still suggest he's a year or two away from creating his own offense, consistently hitting jumpers or becoming a reliable defender. No assurance exists that any of those elements of his game will ever take off.
But the 18-year-old Doumbouya just has too much natural talent and time to improve. His effectiveness against pros overseas still deserves praise.

I think it's a very weak draft, MUCH weaker than the last 2 drafts. The lottery is awful this year, maybe one of the worst in history. Pretty much no difference between pick #4 and pick #15.
