Re: We r the 2020 HOT spot
I think the only way we get MVP level FA signings are if we are a place they can team up with another max contract or if we are already on the cusp of a ring and still have money for a max deal. The former seems more like what we are aiming for. I could see some people wanting to go big with us if we had a Trae, Huerter, Collins, Zion core, for example.

It's an interesting dynamic to consider. Suppose the Hawks get super lucky with the lotto balls next week and draft 1 and 9. They take Zion to add to Trae, JC, and Huerter and then get another wing. They still have $39M available in FA. Does that core entice Kiwi or KD even though it would be so young?
You never know. I'd sure like to find out though.

Kawhi and KD are no brainer signings at MAX deals
It's the rest that's up for debate - how much and for how long?

Re: We r the 2020 HOT spot
Middleton was my target, but now that I look closer at the timing aspect of this thing, we're likely already going to have Collins on-board for a 25% max extension in OS 2020.
If Middleton reverts back to some of his injured-list problems, we could regret having a ~$25-30 mil contract on the books when we could be competing with other teams in OS 2021 who have room enough for a UFA to bring along his best buddy to their dance floor.
We need to have that same cap room.
So, I'm not sure I can recommend to Schlenk that we sign Middleton for anything more than 2 years guaranteed.... likely 4 years with a team option in OS 2021 would be the best possible offer.

Me too! We are overdue.
