He is a 6"1 PG who's defense is sooooo phenomenal that he asks to guard the opponents bast player, and all his coaches let him! From his beef with Westbrook to guarding the likes of Lebron and Paul George to even locking down a 7 foot Kevin Durant, he is pretty much PJ Tucker in a point-guards body...but with EVEN BETTER DEFENSE!

I know i posted quite a few videos, but if you only pick one to watch, go with the first. Thats him this season after coming back from microfracture and meniscus surgery on his right knee. Defense is his bread and butter. He is a Mans MAN and isnt afraid of anybody! Plays the type of tough-nosed NBA ball that i fell in love with in the late 80's and 90's. He would fit perfectly next to Booker as he has experience playing next to a SG like that, he did in Houston with Harden and the duo worked out great together.

As much as I LOVE Patrick Beverley, I don’t think he fixes our problems at the point guard position. Bev reminds me of PJ Tucker, he’s a good player on a good team. Aside from Booker, the Suns do not have anyone else that can create for others, Bev is not the answer. I love watching him play though!

Agreed, Ideally, I'd prefer him be interchangeable with Booker in a capacity wherein Booker occasionally runs point, with Beverly providing tenacious defense at the 2.

But basically the bulk of his worth to us will be on the defensive end and providing tenacity and mentoring to young players.

Hopefully instilling them with the same tenacity and toughness that he has. Especially with Booker and Melton, etc.

My perfect dream scenario would be drafting Morant, And then signing Beverly. ( or drafting Morant and trading for Conley)

But with Beverly,
Could you imagine a more perfect compliment and mentor for a player with Morants' gifts!!!

As much as I like Pat Bev, we still have Tyler Johnson. He's not as good as Beverely from a shooting or defense standpoint but he's younger, more athletic and does provide some of that defense and shooting. What Johnson has that Beverely doesn't is a near $20m contract. That alone makes Pat Bev not really a possibility on this team.

Yeah, it's true that Tyler Johnson is OUR Beverley and he is already under contract.

I am comfortable going into the season with Tyler Johnson as a backup PG, the guy can play starting minutes if needed and you can rely on him.

To be fair, nobody 'and 1'd' the comment. There were a couple of responses a page or 2 later ripping Booker though.
In the end, not our problem.
There was a suggestion from one of their fans to deal Simmons for AD. If I'm the Pels, I probably do that. They'll have to give him max money right away but you have your star and can either move Holiday or retain him to play next to Ben. Then hope you nail your pick.

As much as I like Patrick Beverley - I tend to agree that we have him already with Tyler Johnson. The Suns do need a more "traditional" PG who can run the offense. Beverley doesn't really run the offense. Granted, players like he, Tucker, Tyler are needed on winning teams. They just bring positive energy and play for the most part.

Probably today - my picks would be Collison and Aminu.

Now if KD wants to sign in Phoenix.... :D

Tyler Johnson is extremely injury prone though. I wouldn’t say reliability is a strong suit of his at all.

Injury prone? This year he did only play in 57 games but the two season before that were 72 and 73 games and the two season before he was a 1st and 2nd year player that only played limited minutes. If you think that Tyler is injury prone what does that make TJ Warren?

If Kyrie leaves many as many expect him to, I wonder what Horford does with his player option. He has to decide before free agency starts but he should know by then if Kyrie is staying and where AD is by that point. He’s got 30M on the table but he could probably guarantee more money if he renegotiated a deal this summer instead of waiting. Or does he take a discount and sign with a different playoff team? I’d love him on the Suns in a Milsap/Nuggets role but there are too many obstacles standing in way of that. I think the Clippers and Thunder will be among the most realistic teams for him if he declines his option.

Kerrsed's Annual "Player We Should Get That No One Knows Anything About"
-------------------------------AKA The PJ Tucker Award------------------------------------

Spoiler:
Image

Meet Edy Tarvares! This 27 year old 7'3 Center was the 43rd pick in the 2014 Draft, selected by the Hawks.

Image

Tavares was born in Cape Verde on the island of Maio. He did not play any basketball until he was 17 years old, and his talent was discovered by a German tourist who was on vacation in Cape Verde in 2009. His first year of playing Basketball he got signed to CB Gran Canaria's junior team in the Liga EBA. I could go more into detail, but lets just say he was playing pro ball in Euro League for 4 seasons before he was drafted by the Hawks in 2014. He remained overseas for that first year, but came to the Hawks in 2015 where he played a grand total of 73 minutes in 11 games. Off to the D-League he went. Hawks waived him in 2016 right as the season started.

Image

The Raptors 905 D-league team signed him right away. On February 6, 2017, he was named in the Eastern Conference All-Star team for the 2017 NBA D-League All-Star Game. At the season's end, he was named the recipient of the NBA Development League Defensive Player of the Year Award.

Image

The next season Tavares signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He made his debut for the Cavaliers that night, recording 10 rebounds and 6 blocks in a 99–83 loss to the Toronto Raptors. Tavares did not play at all in the 2017 playoffs due to a hand injury. On October 11, 2017, Tavares was waived by the Cavaliers.

Image

November 10, 2017, Tavares signed with Real Madrid until the end of the 2019–20 season. In May 2018, Tavares and Real Madrid won the 2017–18 EuroLeague championship.

Sounds like a guy we could get for cheap that i would love to see coming off our bench backing up Ayton. Could be a 3rd string or could make Holmes expendable.

I think I would rather have Tavon Looney at the 4 if all else fails with Aminu, et. al

Mizell had a good chat wrap today on the Athletic Had some good names at PG and PF. Still not sure why Rozier is listed but without McDunce here - that is probably less of an option. My guess JonesBower have a clue.

Conley for Jackson, Tyler and flip picks - might have enough for a guy like Looney or Aminu at your 4.

Players that she thinks that we are gonna try to get?

Looney looks a solid option as a backup C. Not sure if he is good enough to play as a starting PF, he is too limited on offense.

Hey, i just see a very tall phenomenal defensive big thats looking to get back in the league. If i understand things correctly, Aytons not going to be jerked around this year with his minutes and if im bringing a guy off the bench for him, i'd rather it be a defensive stopper. The question is how much is Holmes going to cost us and what would Tavares cost? I'd be willing to give what little offense that Holmes does provide for a guy who is supposed to be what Holmes was on the defensive floor, if not better.
