While I 100% agree with this, he is closer to Maker than he is to KP long term. That's not saying Bol isn't a much better prospect because he is but he is not close to KP as you keep trying to paint the picture that he is.

Based on he has more flaws than strengths while KP has more strengths than flaws. I think the perfect like comparison is Josh Smith. Another supremely gifted player who had severe flaws like Bol has. They obviously have different games and flaws but they are both fool's gold for the most part. You gotta protect both and build around both and either are worth it honestly. I hope Bol proves me wrong but I don't see it for him like that. I personally can see him falling all of the way to 18-20 range just because lottery teams don't want to build their future around Bol.

Yes, Josh Smith. Clearly they are not the same the players but they both have a lot of strengths and weaknesses and both have more weaknesses than strengths but their strengths will make them effective players to a degree.
We feel the same exact way with you when it comes to your Bol takes.

Bol Bol upside
The best comparison to Bol Bol is the most obvious -- he's an updated version of his father, the late Manute Bol:
Just like his father, Bol Bol is rail thin. Also like his father, Bol Bol isn't exactly the most graceful looking player (it's a nice way of saying he's clumsy-looking).
The foot injury is (especially for a center) is a major red flag. Bol Bol projects to have a substantial learning curve and he might be several years away from being an impact player if he ever does become an impact player.
To me, anything above a middle first-round pick is a major risk for Bol Bol.

Re: Bol Bol
He is plenty skilled with that length to play in the NBA...how much his frame and potential injury risk impede his future is debatable

Disagree, he doesn’t play anything like his father, but they have similar bodies. Yes, the foot injury isn’t good, but he’s still very young and it’s possible this isn’t reoccurring. If you have the chance to draft a Joel Embiid-level player, you take the risk and just take precautions to keep him healthy. I personally see someone who can dominate offensively with his length in the same way Durant does. There’s just no way to stop his jumper, especially because he can dribble and pull up. I would rather take the risk on him because he can be one of the best players in this class if he works out. Yes, he’s super skinny and isn’t strong, but his role isn’t to be a power player. You need to put him next to a dominant rebounder and someone that’s good at posting up.

Re: Bol Bol
comparing Bol to his father is a bit lazy IMO, yea they have similar body types but most Sudanese players have that body as well. he's much more nimble, athletic and fluid than his father.
he reminds me more of KD offensively, albeit taller and less quick.

Lazy comps are not necessarily bad comps.
And a more nimble, athletic version of Manute Bol with better touch is probably 10x more accurate than a taller, less nimble/athletic KD.

it's just an easy comp to make when there are better ones in terms of skill set.
his skill set, at least on offense, much closer resembles KD's than it does his fathers. Porzingis too makes more sense than his father.
Sudanese bodies are usually all pretty similar in their build but that's as far as this comp really goes

Bol Bol's ceiling is the basketball player from the movie "The Air up there" with Kevin Bacon. His floor is Kevin Durant at the High School level

This next couple weeks is when we beat the heck out of all the 4-10 candidates. I think bolbol might go earlier than expected because nobody knows what to do 4-10 and atleast w bolbol you get the benifit of doubt that your fans know it’s a gamble

The first sensible thing I've read in this thread.

Re: Bol Bol
Sooo how serious is this injury of his? Greg Oden - debilitating type? Or Embiid - off and on type? Or complete non-issue?
