Jami was in a movie called "The Lost Boys".
Not on the TV show "Lost".
Also, this article was posted days ago in the Draft Lottery thread...

My bad. I have my pet shows, but obviously wasn't one of the addicts to Lost, and seems I must have scanned someone's mention too fast.
So, yeah, that answers the question... no bad ju-ju then... big difference between "Lost" and "Lost Boys."

Wow. Don't know how I missed that. I need to spend more time reading more threads around here. You know, so I can put my time to better use and all.

Losing it?
I never had it.

Lost, Lost Boys, Lost in Space, Lost in Translation, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Dora and the Lost City of Gold.... what... ev... errrrrrrrrrr...
I'm personally probably alone in loving that "bad ju-ju"... or at least, highly content with it... if we're not getting Zion, there's really no one in that next tier that I consider to have a similarly high ceiling, and thus, capable to reach elite cornerstone status. Best not to be tempted.
Thank you, Jami!

All the contempt and handwringing over the lottery "failure" is silly imo. Some people have lost their damn minds. There's little difference in potential and quality from 4 to about 24 in this draft. Ha ing 2 top 10 at least gives TS something to work with.

To me the issue is that 8 is the worst possible our pick could have been (it was 99%+ that we would get 8 or higher). It's the continued bad luck that makes me mad.

I agree with your sentiment but wouldn't say "worst possible" with the Hawks. With our luck, we could easily have ended up at #9. It is unreal that Atlanta has never rostered someone we drafted at #1. One of the only teams in the freaking league. Hell, even Memphis (another one of the rare teams without a #1 they've rostered) is on their 5th #2 overall pick compared to one lonesome #2 in Atlanta's history.
[Note: Not counting St. Louis and their 1955 #1 pick]

And even then, it wasn't a real #1.
I haven't read enough to understand why, but the Philly Warriors (Tom Gola, HoFer) and the Minny Lakers (Dick Garmaker, who was an All-NBA guy) were each granted "territorial" draft picks before the actual draft.
We're due some good luck.
Sometimes good luck comes cleverly disguised, of course. That's got to be our hope at this point.

9th was actually the worst bit I get your point. I just look at it as the Dallas pick conveyed so it wasn't all bad. They could have had 9 only as worst case.

That's my whole point. 9 was the worst we could have done but the chances of us getting 9 were so minuscule. We did one better the the minuscule chance at total disaster scenario (in terms of luck not actual talent acquisition). It's like: you have a .5% chance of falling all the way down the stairs, then falling down to the last step, and thinking 'that wasn't so bad'.

That is definitely how I feel about everyone who was saying, "This was a good day for the Hawks!"
* We didn't get super lucky and hit #1. Oh well.
* We lost our coin flip and didn't go 1-4 (slightly worse odds than a coin flip). Eh, that was the most probable outcome.
* We got unlucky not landing somewhere by the 6th pick. Well, there was a 1/3 chance we would fall below there so we're doing fine.
* We got super unlucky not to land by the seventh pick. Does that stink? No...that is great. Hey, we didn't get phenomenally unlucky and land at 9!!! Good day for the home team!!
What kind of damaged fan views dodging a 0.6% outcome as a big win?
