Both had good Playoffs prior to the season things kinda fell apart. But at least Jackson wasn't historically bad from 2 pt range among guards with Rozier's role in his first four seasons over the last 20 years....

As a strong Kyrie supporter what's your take on the idea that his comments to the media re free agency had such a negative impact on team chemistry/morale? I suppose it is speculation rather than fact and some might say his team mates should have the fortitude not to be miffed by it and focus on themselves. I reckon the point is however that given his ability he was assumed to be a leader of the team and he really is not a leader. At all. When someone who is supposed to be a leader acts like a Beta rather than an Alpha then it can be damaging/unsettling, particularly when given his talent he saw a lot of minutes and shots?

What I want to know is what the Rozier trade was - I think Danny passed on it in the hope we could win a title this year - and if it turns out it was for a valuable player it'll have been a huge mistake.

The other possibility is that Danny has been planning to trade Smart all along (also a mistake) in order to give Rozier 30-ish minutes as a back-up combo guard and let him raise his value.

All of this was predictable, though, from the start - I thought he should have traded Rozier over the summer, my guess is that our FO got a bunch of low-ball offers and never countered. And it was obvious that Jaylen and Jayson were going to cause problems after their playoff run, so getting Terry out of the way would have been big for distributing shots and touches - a Kyrie/Smart/Jaylen backcourt, Tatum gets minutes at the 3 without having to share them with Jaylen, and ideally you would have brought back someone for Terry like Ntilikina, who would be lower on the totem pole, v versatile defensively, and not in a position to complain about minutes..

Don't get me wrong, I love Kyrie the player. I have soured on him though myself. He quit on us and I don't know what the hell he was doing in games 2-5. And all year I felt some hate from him towards things here......

But in terms of chemistry and being a FA? Should it be this big of a deal? I mean tons of players are FA's every year.

I think the media hurt Kyrie and Boston at times with non stop headlines with his FA. That is not on Kyrie.

But it is on Kyrie to have announced his call and apology to Lebron and to be buddies with him again. And to flirt openly with Durant at the ASG with cameras watching.

It was around the Lebron James phone call where I think he realized he was not into the idea of having his own team anymore. That was the carpe diem moment.

If Kyrie does indeed leave (and I think he does). I think his deciding factor is not liking Brad Stevens or his system. I think he doesn't respect Brad.
