This sounds nice on paper but I struggle to understand how this could happen--or why anyone would want it happen?!?!--after Kyrie so transparently gave up on the team in the buck series. If I'm Wyc, I'm not authorizing DA to sign this guy for millions and millions?
He didnt give up. He stunk. The Bucks game planned well and shut him down games 2 and on. Bad coaching by Brad. Zero adjustments were made by Boston. Brad kept on coaching and managing the rotation as if it were a regular season game.
How come nobody talks about Terry Rozier and how awful he was? Whenever he was put in the game it was instantly down hill.

A lot of people have been on Rozier's case. Kyrie get's more attention because Rozier is not the team's best player. Rozier didn't talk big talk about delivering in the playoffs. I don't think the Bucks had anything to do with Kyrie missing open looks or giving up on defense. I can't understand why people defend him after those last three games, particularly game 5. Yes, when he's engaged he's great, but he clearly wasn't engaged in the playoffs. Who wants to root for a guy like that? Who wants to play for a guy like that?
I guess you could say the situation wasn't great and Steven failed him and team with poor coaching but where does that get you? You don't want people in your organization or your life that find excuses to give up. You want people who rise to the occasion, challenge others to be their best, and help others be their best. Not only does Kyrie lack those skills, he may be the type of person that actively undermines those type of positive dynamics
The lesson of this season should not be to double down on most DA's basketball-as-hedge-fund approach and try to maximize the perceived value composition of our assets. Instead, he needs to realize that human relationships matter and try to pay some attention to those dynamics. I don't understand how you can move forward with a guy like Kyrie who played all year by special rules and then gave up his teammates. Kyrie needs to go. Some other people probably need to go. Steven needs to learn from this but Kyrie definitely needs to go. **** that guy.
Although I agree partially, we also need to note that Kyrie IS an NBA champion. Granted he had LeBron, but it was often times Kyrie that took them home. He's an Olympic champion, a perennial all-star and still has alot of good basketball in front of him.
In my opinion Kyrie needs to have batman to his Robin. Snagging Anthony Davis or Kevin Durant would bring the best out of Kyrie. Especially with a healthy Hayward and Horford who can be your 3rd and 4th guys respectively.
Kyrie really struggled leading a young core. He did develop great chemistry with Marcus Smart and Al Horford. I think his chemistry with Jaylen & Terry was nonexistent and the source of the teams problems. Kyrie has been the scapegoat all season long, but he isn't to blame solely.
He has won, and he can win again with the right pieces.
