Re: Longtime RealGM Moderator Dharam Raghubir (A.K.A. Magnumt) Has Passed Away
I’ve been reading his contributions to the trade board for over a decade, and I was always happy when he would take the time to share his perspective. Overall, his posts gave me a quality that keeps me coming to back to RealGM for all these years - “reasonableness.” And while this word seems less important, to me it’s one of the highest compliments I can give out. We all benefit from his type of posts.
And I wanted to thank Howard Mass for this personal eulogy — that couldn’t have been easy to write. I think here at RealGM, and on the internet in general, we can often forget that we are discussing and debating with real people with their own real life stories. I appreciate this reminder.
Maybe Mags exemplified that sentiment best ....

Wow.. This news literally shocked the hell out of me.. no idea he was dealing with health issues. Just goes to show people are always dealing with things behind closed doors more times than not. R.I.P Mags. Realgm and Knicks board specifically will always remember you.

Always got along with Mags. One of, if not the best mod of all time. He helped make the GB a place for discussion and not insults. I'll miss him and the incalculable void left by him.
Props to Turbo_Zone for the sig.

Re: Longtime RealGM Moderator Dharam Raghubir (A.K.A. Magnumt) Has Passed Away
It seems almost vulgar to lament his passing in the context of RealGM because a sports discussion forum is so inconsequential to the master plan, but the fact that this place meant so much to him, and that his devotion has made it so wonderfully special for so many of us, speaks to the caliber of man he surely was, the profound impact such a person can have on everything he touches, and the puissance of his being, across the spectrum of his life and down to we who were favored to know him even from a distance.
I wish him the peace of eternity; I wish solace for those whose hearts beat hollow in the echo of his departure. All my respects.

Tried to post a message on here yesterday morning but it was locked-up, or something, so I gave Mags a shoutout in our T&T games.
He was signed up to be playing in our current “Eastern Conference GMAT” game as the NYK’s but suddenly become a no-show when things finally kicked off... this obviously explains why.
Really makes you think about how many other Real GM’s have actually “passed away” only to be assumed “off-line”, never to be heard from again.

Former Mod played T&T games with us a few times. Very very sad news. He was the Suns in the Western Conference GMAT. We obviously mostly talked hoops but he would mention sleeping a lot via his “treatment”. According to PM, we lasted talked on March 10th about a trade... He passed away April 18th. Heartbreaking stuff

Actually felt some sort of way upon hearing this news, genuinely one of the honorable contributors to this forum, going to be extremely missed.

To be called a friend, be respected by those who disagreed with him, and be spoken so well of even by those who did not know him personally speaks to the kind of person Mags was and the impact he had here. We had few direct interactions but they were always welcoming and lighthearted. Reading through this thread makes me wish I'd gotten to know him better. Mags stood out in many good ways - a great mod, a passionate fan, and a good-natured poster. To me Mags was a beacon in how he dealt with others, and that is how I'll remember him.
Rest in peace, Dharam. My thoughts are with his family and all those affected by our community's loss. Mags leaves it a better place.

We didn't interact all that much but boy his optimistic Knick views both on the Knicks board and particularly the main board were so much appreciated. It was like a beacon of light in the darkness, especially when the Knicks were often at times really bad. So much Knicks trolling but you could never put out Mags passion for the team. Dude had such a positive view on the team, it was great. Seemed like a kind dude.
RIP Mags. Seen that guy banging the Knicks drum proudly through the Isiah Thomas days, in between that with some of the poor years prior to 2010, through the Amare/Melo days and going up until now with this disaster. Absolute class.

To know now what Mags was going through and the dedication he still had to come here and moderate/join discussion about basketball. He must have really loved it.
I am grateful that this forum can provide that and that Mags was a big part of building that.
Thoughts for him and his family.

Respect to a real one. Moderating is a thankless task, and Mags took on more than his fair share of it cause he wanted this forum to be the best place it could be.
RIP Dharam.
