Does Ainge still make a pitch?

Yup. Ainge isn't going to drop out of the race now.

For the Pels to back out, they know Danny is willing to offer a lot. Cause if Danny is out of it, the Lakers wont put on the table what they previously had. So, yea, Danny probably has an greement in place for Davis.
Good assessment:

Cave reported it first.

https://celticswire.usatoday.com/2019/05/13/stephen-a-95-percent-chance-kyrie-irving-kevin-durant-sign-with-nyk/

According to ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, there’s a 95 percent chance Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant team up in New York (presumably for the New York Knicks rather than the Brooklyn Nets, though both franchises are located in New York).

Smith, though not necessarily considered an NBA insider in the vein of an Adrian Wojnarowski or Shams Charania, has plenty of connections to New York and Philadelphia from his time as a sportswriter in those locations beginning in the 1990s.

https://www.masslive.com/celtics/2019/05/kyrie-irving-rumors-irving-kevin-durant-joining-new-york-knicks-appears-to-be-a-foregone-conclusion-report.html

“I got a text message from folks close to Kyrie’s family within the hour,” he said on ESPN today. “Quote: ‘there is no way in hell he’s going to L.A.’”

Smith then went on to say it’s very likely Irving would join Golden State Warriors star and former MVP Kevin Durant and sign with the New York Knicks.

“From everything that I’ve been hearing over the last few days, Kyrie Irving his heading to New York City,” he said. “Kyrie Irving is heading to Madison Square Garden with Kevin Durant. People in his inner circle are trying to bring the Nets into the mix, but clearly New York is the destination, the likelihood is that it will be MSG.”

He went on to suggest Knicks owner James Dolan will do whatever it takes, including backing away from the Knicks.

“It appears to be a foregone conclusion,” Smith said. “I don’t know whether that’s true or not. Neither Kevin Durant or Kyrie Irving are talking about these things. But I am telling you what the belief is. They are destined to go to MSG.”

The last bit there leaves him a bit of an out, and he did go on to say there’s a chance Durant makes an emotional choice and doesn’t choose the Knicks, which could apparently influence Irving’s decision. Irving may decide to leave anyway, and odds makers have made New York the favorite landing spot for Irving this summer.

Then he can have it. He will also be leaving a bunch of money on the table. Is Kyrie and KD enough to win a championship? Not sure about that.

Hopefully we at least get a sign and trade out of the deal. But imo knicks would still suck with durant and irving.

I mean we all knew he was heading to the Knicks regardless of the run the Celtics went on. I just hope Danny rethinks the option of top PG Terry Rozier being the fall back.

Not that I am going to deny where there is smoke there is probably fire but Stephen A Smith has historically had half the NBA coming to the Knicks.

That's my thinking. At best they'd be like the Rockets of the EC with KD and Kyrie taking turns playing ISO ball.

But KD isn't built like Harden to have high usage throughout the season. He even said so.

Lets say the Knicks get the top pick. So they can trade for AD. They will have 3 big stars but not sure that team beats Bucks or Toronto, assuming they keep their main players this offseason.

That will cap them out and they'd have to fill it with cheap minimum players.

That big 3 can all score but I'm not sure they're as complementary as Curry and Klay have been with KD, giving him a lot of spacing.

With the thin skin superstar squad and dolan and media. That's a recipe for disaster. And I'm confident they don't get the 1st pick. But if they do they might need to trade it .

In no circumstance will i ever see a Kyrie KD AD-team as a recipe for disaster.

Not disaster but not the automatic champion that people might assume.

Kyrie and AD have been injury prone and KD is getting up in age.

They won't have much depth.

If Kyrie walks, I hope it's to the Knicks. He will have to face his former teammates several times and will have to go through us to succeed. Will stick Cobra on his a$$ and bring it the intensity! Also watch how the ping pong bounces, when NY doesn't get the first pick everything changes

Whats the big deal if KI goes to the Nicks. He a team killer a cancer he the reason why the Celts stunk this year. 90% on this board want the young kids leading the future and KI gone. Whats the problem are you having second thoughts. It's funny get rid of him. No wait stay! No don't go to the Nicks we won't have a chance!!!!!
The KI haters get what they want the future "superstars"(laughable) Jaylen Brown and Jason Tatum leading the way to the next title. Hey wait a minute lets replace KI with IT!

PS When Boston doesn't have (world wide) superstar on the roster than there is NO OTHER STARS COMING. No Ray and PP, no KG, get it.

KI did use to light up the Celtics in the playoffs.

Of course he played with Lebron.

curious. All of the radio are talking about KI and KD going to new York to play with zion...
which is fine. I'd love to get zion. I had a dream that zion fell to 9 and that's where the Memphis pick landed.

but from a "win" standpoint, trade that pick to new Orleans and bring over Anthony davis w/ an extension.

KI KD AD oh my.

and I think that's a very real scenario, and then we screwed.

I've long thought Kyrie was going to the Knicks or Nets; obviously, I hope not and would love for him to return, but Irving is flaky as hell, so we will see.

I don’t think Kyrie knows what he is doing.

People say Kyrie gave up. He didn’t give up, he tried too hard.

As far as Boston/Nee York/Nets...why do we hear Knick’s interested in Kemba and now Rozier and Smart?

I think Kyrie signs with Boston. We trade for AD. Away we go.

I don’t want kyrie Irving back. Tatum and brown didn’t show the growth i expected. We will see what happens.

Return to Boston Celtics
