This is incredibly sad news.

I've been on this board since 2005 and for as long as I've been here, Mags was always a presence. Tough, but fair -- and always just one of the guys. As someone else said earlier, we talk to each other on this site daily but in reality, we don't really know each other. So sorry to hear he was going through some difficult health issues even though he never once let on.

Rest In Power, MAGS and thanks for being an amazing guy. So glad to have you watching over us and the team now from the sky!!

This really hits hard fam. This dude brought so much light and enthusiasm to the boards but not just here, he was supportive to a lot of us in our real world endeavors too. When we talk about being a community, Mags embodied that through and through. He was a friend, period and we lost someone that was truly unique and valuable. Condolences to his loved ones and RIP brother.

Ill always remember him for being the first mod Ive seen go to bat for the Knicks like he was was regular user.. His hardcore fandom came out any time he felt we were being disrespected on these forums. This news feels kinda surreal.. Rest in power Mags

Man just saw this... this fuqqed me right up. Mags was a good dude from all of the interaction I had with him. I had major trade negotiations with him in BAF and he was always a stand up dude and kept it as respectful as could be. He'll always have my respect.

What?! I can't believe this happened. Mags was one of the reasons I kept coming back to this site. (He also saved my butt on the General Board multiple times....) I am stunned and truly saddened...I feel like I lost family.

UCF wrote:I remember writing him a warning on the general board almost 19 years ago. Few people have argued receiving a warning like him. By the end of the conversation I knew he could do a lot more. His passion for basketball and engaging people was obvious. I’ll miss him disagreeing with me (often) and being passionate about his team. Rest in Peace my friend.

I'd seen the profile note but didn't know this story. Crazy to think how that set of interactions changed the course of this site. Like, if you had blown him off his whole tenure probably doesn't happen.

His optimism was second to none with this team, real good dude. Had zero fear or care over the Knicks bashing that often and sometimes deservedly over in the General Board.

Very sad news. As I said earlier in the thread, he did a great job of showing me the ropes when I first became a mod. It was totally unannounced and I was surprised since it wasn't one of the boards he modded (I'm over on the PC board).

And yeah, echoing others talking about his optimism. While in some ways I think i'm less cynical than some fans, I also come to the knicks board mainly to vent. He was just happy whenever something positive came up that was knicks-related.

RIP, Mags. Hope this is a great offseason in memory of you
