3rd pick usually better than the 2nd. Except when it's Kevin Durant.

Honestly I’m happy. When i look at how Cleveland, Phoenix, Atlanta and Chicago got shafted I’m low key thankful. Getting Ja or RJ is a great look. We can keep them and develop of trade for another talent. I’m ok with this. Would have been awesome to get Zion but I’m not punching air by no means.

Sekou could be good but I don't see the huge upside. maybe if we trade down with Atlanta. Take him and Hunter or something.

Sure, NO would LOVE to do that deal. They get RJ & Mitch, and some FRP, DS Jr, and Knox.

They can use all that to build around the guy NY wanted to build around.

For that you get to pay Anthony Davis a max contract (even though he's often injured) in a quest to win a ring within 3 years.

If you fail to win a ring in that time frame you're back on the rebuilding treadmill in 4 years looking up at New Orleans (or Seattle) winning games with a young core while wondering why the Knicks can never do something like that.

For that you get a PROVEN All Star(for unproven players) that Lebron James would trade most of the Lakers roster for. His positives outweigh his negatives. If the knicks can get KD, AD, and Kyrie on the same team, the trade for the Knicks will be well worth it.

In the lotto era (only up to 2014, that's all DX has unfortunately), there have been 13 all stars picked 3rd

Only 6 have been picked 2nd

People tend to reach on guys more at 2 than 3

19 picked 1st, btw. Pretty much guaranteed a good player, very few outright busts
BaF Lakers:

Nikola Topic/Kasparas Jakucionis
VJ Edgecombe/Jrue Holiday
Shaedon Sharpe/Cedric Coward
Kyle Filipowski/Collin Murray-Boyles
Alex Sarr/Clint Capela

Bench: Malcolm Brogdon/Hansen Yang/Rocco Zikarsky/RJ Luis Jr.

As a Duke and Knick fan I'm happy we got a top 3 pick, feel for Zion, he really wanted to come here, now he's stuck in a small market for 5 years

Look, I really like RJ but let's be real here. The Knicks haven't re-signed a draftee since Charlie fcking Ward. They will trade RJ the first chance they get. Knox too.

If not Anthony Davis, then Bradley Beal. If not Beal, then next year's crop. It's not if, just when.

He’s gonna be a stud. He’s only 18.
His make up is gonna make him a star.
Coaching will make him a winner.

I still think we move the pick tho but if not I’m good with he or Ja.

Not a bust but not a Super Star either. Decent 3rd banana on a good team but it will take him time. He plays too wild, no pace and his jumper needs to improve dramatically. But he should have a nice career. It just won't be as good as what you should get with the 3rd pick normally but it's a weak class.

Steph Curry lasted until the 7th pick. A whole mess of FO types blew that pick. Giannis was the 15th pick in the draft. That was 14 slots BELOW Anthony Bennett the #1 pick in that class. Is Bennett even still in the league? Kawhi was the 15th pick in his class.

The point is this stuff (scouting/development) isn't as cut and dried as we fans like to make it out to be. All of these guys have flaws. The trick is looking at players and figuring out what framework they need to be in to be successful. Donnie Walsh LOVED Steph Curry because he saw a framework where Steph could be successful. GS was the only other team who saw the framework.

Also the Steph Curry in year 3 was a completely different Steph Curry than the guy we saw at Davidson. Players grow. They learn. They develop.

RJ was the consensus #1 pick before the season. He has flaws. I have my issues with him but the kids got talent. He's got heart. HE WORKS HARD, basketball is IMPORTANT to him, he doesn't shy from the moment.

I'll take that. Its up to the NY FO to shine the stone they draft. Mark my words it happens every draft there will be players in this class who become all stars that people currently think are "trash".

BTW, NY is damn lucky to be picking 3. As many questions as people have about RJ there are plenty of more questions about prospects rated below him. Also at 3 NY can leverage the pick and trade back if they like someone better who will be around in picks 6-8.

Best scenario just happened, saddle up and don't get attached because you can kiss this pick goodbye!

He is a good player but I don't think he is a superstar. I still wouldn't trade for Davis. It's not worth it to me to trade for a guy that will miss 20 games every year.

Then the Knicks either trade Ja or DSJ, if not both assuming Kyrie signs here. This could be a long summer.

I still think the grizzlies come to their senses and take RJ. I’d feel like we robbed a bank if we ended up with him. I was never as high on the Zion hype train as many

But I’m good with trying for AD

I actually don't know what people see in Barrett - please explain

What I see is a old school small forward in a guard sized body, who can't shoot reliably or even make his free throws, who's a bit rigid and lacking athletically, who can only use his left hand, and who doesn't step up in big moments
