Legit LOL.

Those guys add a lot of value in terms of dragging the trash bins for hilarious stuff, but their reviews are extremely basic. Surviving Edged Weapons is a genuine treasure. That's their wheelhouse.

I think the Plinkett reviews are their jam, while the **** movie reviews are icing on the cake. Interesting FYI, they make nearly 30K a month on Patreon.

Never enjoyed the Plinkett stuff, simply an annoying character and tough to sit through. A lot of people love those though and it put those dudes on the map. I will say, I don't think the overwhelming majority of people trash modern day star wars or the prequels (or any new movie/game) based on movie review skits 10+ years after the fact (or Russian bots or alt-right or other funny complaint). I can see how that might be a false perception, but the movies were panned at the time and many people hated them long before those Plinkett reviews ever hit youtube.

With an expanding universe that contains more content and different movies from a 'beloved' franchise (whatever it is..Star Wars, GOT), you're going to see further divide, different opinions, and whatever else. Long ways from OT versus PT that people used to debate.

Ugh. The Family Video a couple blocks away is closing and I found out way too late. Went there over lunch to rent Rage 2, and it turns out the place was gutted and they were selling everything. Games and Blu Rays were picked over but I still managed to get Hitman 2, Injustice 2, and the last two seasons of Spartacus for $40.

A weird moment while watching GOT the other night

Spoiler:
I'm watching and out loud I say, "Jesus, this is like dropping a nuke on them."

Took a moment for it to sink in that our own government did this twice to a country on a scale x1000. Icky feeling got way worse at that point.

At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.

Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

Coincidentally, ESB is in Mike Stoklasa's (Plinkett's) list of Top 5 Movies.

ESB, the worst box office performance of the original trilogy? Can't be.

GoT explanation (or lack there of) from producer for something that's been discussed

Spoiler:
Article
Since Euron just found out about the baby, and he’s standing right behind Cersei in the scene, wouldn’t he question how Tyrion knew this information? That’s what fans were wondering after the episode.

For Nutter, the scene wasn’t really about that.

“I think Euron, he’s not paying that much attention,” Nutter said, explaining that the scene was more about Tyrion appealing to Cersei’s softer side.

“That was an intense scene,” Nutter continued. “I think any type of Euron intrusion there would’ve weakened the intent of what we were trying to tell.”

GoT personnel may just want to keep quiet on any plot explanation from now until eternity

I honestly don't enjoy the show but continue it because it is a "big" show so to speak. I find it just way too confusing in that I generally do know what's going on but I'm not really sure. So I have to read afterwards to make sure I was following it correctly. Basically without the internet I don't know if I could watch it. So it almost feels like work to watch it.

That said, the cinematography aspects of really amazing. Maybe best ever in TV.

I quit during season two, I feel with a degree in English Literature I should not have to constantly go online to figure out which character is secretly carrying the consciousness of another, and how that changes in various undesignated timelines. I get what they were trying to do, but character drives story and they left us not really sure even who was who.

Like the movie or not, I hope every one can see that The Last Jedi was just one big troll of Star Wars fanboys. Not just mocking what/the themes they fell in love with about the original trilogy, but also (rather explicitly) who they are.

I don’t think being a good troll of fans makes a movie a good movie. And I don’t think The Last Jedi was a good movie in its context as the penultimate Star Wars movie. But if you REALLY enjoy a good troll job, I can see how you’d like that movie.

That said, I was never a big Star Wars fan. More Like indifferent, but aware. For instance I think rouge one was the best Star Wars movie.

I think we just have a broader problem with the mass-generated "review" culture. I understand the desire to want to read reviews of products before you buy them - I certainly do - but I think the "scores" are only a small part of that process. You have to consider the source of the review, its substantive content (beyond the "score"), and what's actually being reviewed. There's a reason why I put less stock in mass-generated reviews of movies, music, or food because those things are often subjective. Instead, I'll look for the opinions of people I trust - friends, online follows, etc. It's the same thing with many products I'll buy on Amazon - I'll often pull up a source I trust like "Wirecutter," Gizmodo, Kotaku, ConsumerReports, or CNET before I make a decision. Yelp reviews on restaurants only go so far - I've been burned multiple times going to places with 4.5+ stars only to discover it is mediocre at best when I get there.

So you've got to take them with a grain of salt, IMO. No one needs to justify why they like or don't like a movie/tv show.

Working my way through the first season of Deadwood at the moment, it's been pretty good thus far!

Hearing Czabe constantly talk about it made me take the plunge.
