So much schadenfreude on display because of the Knicks not getting Zion. Even from people that I thought were fair and impartial. Starting to enjoy all the attention this allegedly “irrelevant” franchise is receiving.

The extreme level of self-deprecation in the poll makes me want to buy Cap a beer to cheer him up.

Just a thought, but Fox is turning out to be quite the player for SAC.
Whatever flaws Ja may have, isn't he at least as good or better than Fox was when he was drafted?
Just saying because I wanted Fox in that draft and would still love to have him, so if Morant is close in talent and ability then I'd be very pleased with finally having a PG of that caliber.
fox was a much better finisher, defender, and had a much more projectable shot. played with an intensity and motor on both ends that ja doesn’t.
OK, thanks. That's why I'm asking, because I really have no idea other than he's the top rated PG in the draft. I followed Fox's draft a bit and formed some opinions at that time. Now I'm checked out mostly and have no strong POV on the talent in this draft. I do remember thinking Fox was kind of fierce, could really slash to the rim and was a very strong finisher. I don't know that to be true of Ja.
And if Ja has no hunger to play D, then eff him. I want a 2-way stud to run the team. Tired of settling for one trick ponies.
tbh they only two way stud is obviously zion possibly guys like culver or hunter. wouldn’t consider rj a two way player but he has better physical tools then morant. i personally love garland but he’s not what i’d categorize as two-way either.
for me at least I think in this era shooting and handle are above all else for the pg position. i look at guys like jamal murray, lillard, steph, conely, etc. and what really separates them is their ability to shoot off the dribble and creatively get to their spots. if a guard is dynamic enough offensively you can build around them defensively. having guys like mitch help.
that’s mainly why i’m so pro garland over morant. both can still be great players but that’s my preference.

Re: 3rd pick hype thread I guess
RJ would work as a secondary or tertiary playmaker with Kyrie.
I can’t believe people are so down on us picking third.
RJ Barrett would arguably be our best player right now with respect to Mitch. If we woulda won the whole thing they woulda started questioning Zion’s position and fit and everything else. If Ja drops to us, watch all the question marks about him come up. So much negativity.
It’s suffocating.
He’s not perfect. None of these guys are but Barrett is gonna be a great Knick. He’s too driven and talented to not be a star. And the bright lights won’t shake him.
Sigh and we’ll probably trade him for AD.

I'm going to guess it's someone outside of top 4.... Suns or Bulls. Bulls have a history of giving promises at the combine too.

Everyone is sleeping on Hunter. I think he could be Artest 2.0 without the crazy.

How can we trade out of the draft? I’d do it if we can get another lottery pick for next year

It’s like when lil bitches make subliminal records, if it ain’t directed directly at me, I don’t respect it

Ja may be the better player at the same time, but Fox had a lot more going for him potential wise IMO.
Fox showed way more defensive potential and his shot, mechanically, was much more traditional and projectable than Morant's shot is.
I also think fox is slightly more functionally athletic

I voted for RJ.. but trading back is a good option.. Coby White would be my target.. reminds me of Lou Will

Re: Draft Thread: Knicks got #3 - Combine and Beyond
I'm skpetical of him in some ways but encourged by RJ's professional attitude at such a young age since he will be one of the youngest players in the draft and league as a rookie along with his willingness, desire and ability to share the ball considering that if he comes to the Knicks he just may be on the floor with two superstars he will need to fit in with.
He's so young he might even still have some growth left and wind up as a 6-7 or 6-8 guy.

If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

What I see is a old school small forward in a guard sized body, who can't shoot reliably or even make his free throws, who's a bit rigid and lacking athletically, who can only use his left hand, and who doesn't step up in big moments
So you're saying he's basically a left handed Demar Derozan.
Thats not too bad to have on rookie contract.
People here keep **** KP after the trade but I'd love to have a player with upside as much as KP instead others.
Even for Zion I'm not sure.
Bullying and athleticism looked great in college but is it going to translate to NBA?
They put Giannis-Embiid-Kawhi on Zion what going to happen? Even after couple years I cant see Zion playing like a star against those.
Even players like Thad Young/Jaylen Brown/Blake Griffin have enough physical tools to stop him, bother him vertically.
I dont know what Memphis thinks. M.Conley's trade value isnt that much but he's still performing great. If they want to ride with Conley on pg then maybe they go for RJ. Or just get Morant and play them like combo guard. Conley can defend most SG's.
I never believed DSJ or his trade value. If Knicks draft Ja Morant they'd need trade one of those 2. (If Kyrie signing with Knicks then trade both)
I think our accidental rebuild started with Fisher's abysmal performance and drafting KP pretty much ended. Knicks either need to sign Durant/Kyrie, trade for Davis or just go and tank hard for 2 more years.

Perfectly said, he also has another gear speed and quickness wise that Ja doesnt, Ja does have an extra step on the latter vertically that Fox doesn't.

I’d trade 3 for pascal siakam and future raps 20 and seconds.
Assuming Zion is off board and AD is a no deal.
I think he’ll work well if KD comes and next to Mitch ...

Yeah I think it's the suns too. If a team that high in the lottery is giving him a promise we need to do our due diligence. No team has even worked him out and he may have a promise already thats insane considering he only played 5 games in college. This kid could be special.
I hope the Knicks don't fall into groupthink and if garland is really the best player don't worry about what all the armchair gm mock draft makers say and just grab him at #3. People thought bogut and Marvin Williams were better than cp3, if garland is a stud then just draft him.
