I want to keep the pick as well and as I posted in another thread... you could realistically have this:
Ki/DSJ
RJ/Zo/DOTS
DJ/MR
KD/Frank
Taj?/Knox

Point being that's a deep team that's balanced with veteran leadership along with youth... Between the trio of Mitch/Knox/Barrett - I just think they're going to be really good for years.

New Orleans Pelicans Receive: Damyean Dotson, Kevin Knox, Frank Ntilikina, Dennis Smith Jr., No. 3 pick (drafted by Knicks), 2020 first-round pick, 2021 first-round pick (via Dallas)

that seems like the most the knicks should do and it's still a lot

I'd take that deal and run yo. We keep Mitch and still form a Big 3. Big 3 + Mitch is really a Big 4. Then the ring chasers will flesh out the rest of the roster.

me too. anything that lets me keep mitch.

tho, can't trade consecutive firsts. we'd have 2 in 2021, but only 1 in 2020. can't trade 19 and 20, can we?

or does 19 not count at that point because it's a player and not a pick?

Agreed

Those picks could be solid - ours if we strike out and AD doesn’t resign, Dallas’s if they struggle - but that’s the price of a superstar

And losing Knox, RJ, frank and Dotson plus dsj isn’t gonna keep me up at night

I’d prefer we did that trade after free agency however
Kyrie, KD and AD - forget about it

I can see Perry doing that deal. It wouldnt cripple the team future-wise, and instantly makes them a contender in the present.

KD + AD + 2019 max is what you'd hope your rebuild to become. like you said, we wouldn't even have gone into the hole to do it like past times.

this trade can't happen until we sign kd/kyrie first it says. so we would draft rj for them or whoever. then we can trade our 2020 pick because we're trading him and not the pick.

Man, this thing really could have gone all the way bad and didn't. No Zion, but there's unquestionably still good life in it.

Can you imagine this forum fighting about Garland/Culver/Hunter/Clarke for the next month? Because that was the likely outcome we dodged.

Knicks converted their 2019 pick into RJ's rights, so it no longer counts towards the Stepien Rule.

In that trade scenario we can trade the picks cuz the 2020 pick would be ours but the 2021 is originally the Mavs pick. The '19 pick doesn't count cuz we officially drafted RJ and held onto him for 30 days after he signed his rookie deal in that scenario.

Garland and Culver are legit though. I don't think there is much separation between them and Morant/RJ as prospects.

Being in the top 3 is great in terms of the options it puts on the table for us, but we still have to really put these kids through their paces.

I trust Pills to make the right choice.

this is why i hate the tankers, rooting or the team to loose night in and out. you are never guaranteed anything so for us to get RJ and walk away I am very happy. I am also happy we took a yr and developed and played young guys. We go into FA with a a very good chance at adding to max cats without giving up anything, even if we add T Harris and K Walker and another mid level guy with our young core we are better, and we have our draft picks.

Despite my outright disdain for Reddish's mentality, if Perry took him at #3 I wouldn't even question it. That's how much trust & respect I have for Perry.

Does that mean you still have faith in Kevin Knox?

I don't think I can deal with two low-motor prospects in a row. I respect the hell out of Perry well, but it doesn't seem like he made the right pick last year. Could be wrong though, hopefully Knox is in the gym as we speak. Doubt it though.

If we go Reddish, I'd hope it's a trade down scenario

One element about RJ I like (if he is picked and kept) is it stops us from picking apart Knox and Frank for what they aren't (Knox - not a passer | Frank - not a slasher) and just slots everyone into their natural strengths and lets them do what they do best. Knox can just live off of drive and kicks from RJ and Frank could play off the ball on offense and learn to stick the 3 as a 3|D wing. And on defense Frank could guard the 1 and RJ can guard the other guard. We'd have a really big wing at each position. Now that is assuming a lot tho...like Frank isn't dealt, RJ/Knox isn't dealt, and then it kind of leaves DSJ without a clear major role.

Bro, if we had those Atlanta picks and someone suggested moving up to 3 with them we’d get laughed at. Why would you want to move down? We’re in a good spot, and have a **** ton of youth to develop as it is.

That won't be the case if we get AD
