that seems like the most the knicks should do and it's still a lot

I'd take that deal and run yo. We keep Mitch and still form a Big 3. Big 3 + Mitch is really a Big 4. Then the ring chasers will flesh out the rest of the roster.

Agreed

Those picks could be solid - ours if we strike out and AD doesn’t resign, Dallas’s if they struggle - but that’s the price of a superstar

And losing Knox, RJ, frank and Dotson plus dsj isn’t gonna keep me up at night

I’d prefer we did that trade after free agency however
Kyrie, KD and AD - forget about it

bruh. zero sleep lost.
RIP magnumt

thanks for everything, thibs.

I wasn't referring to RJ really, since we'd never have him in this scenario.

But there isn't one player on this roster outside of Mitch who would give me pause for AD.

I love some of the kids, but let's be real.

I am so excited about the youth this team has now. Perry and Mills have done a fantastic job. DSJ, Mitch, Knox, Frank, Trier, Barrett and Mudiay (yes, i expect him back) is a ton of moldable potential. Put a couple of stars with some capable vets and they will flourish.

I am hoping when all is said and done we end up with a roster of:

PG: Irving/DSJ/Mudiay
SG: Barrett/Frank/Trier
SF: Knox/Danny Green/Vince Carter
PF: Durant/Vonleh/Kornet
C: Robinson/Jordan

I think Knicks would be more likely to keep Barrett if they strike out in FA. If they get KD and one of Kemba/Kyrie/Butler then you can bet the stars will pressure mgmt to trade the pick and find a third guy. Number 3 + Knox + Robinson probably beats whatever the Celtics could offer for AD. Or maybe they keep the pick in the event they strike out on the top tier stars and wind up paying someone like Harris or Boogie.

It would be better for Barrett to go to a bad team where he's given the freedom to work on his game. That kid has a lot of warts but I like your Derozan comp. He's somewhere between DD and Jalen Rose.

New Orleans Pelicans Receive: Damyean Dotson, Kevin Knox, Frank Ntilikina, Dennis Smith Jr., No. 3 pick (drafted by Knicks), 2020 first-round pick, 2021 first-round pick (via Dallas)

that seems like the most the knicks should do and it's still a lot

That would be a steal to be honest.

i don't think anyone would lose sleep over knox, ds jr or frank. the mavs pick and rj would be the big loss. if the mavs don't sign a kemba or someone are they a playoff team ? i tend to think not. so that pick could end up really good.

Just read in the NY Post that:

Barrett is “the first high-major player to average 22 points, seven rebounds and four assists — and he did it as an 18-year-old freshman who re-classified into the 2018 recruiting class.”

and his college numbers are very, very similar to Wade's in college (when he was 2-3 years older).

RJ is 18 years old. Seems like he has room to improve too.

Also, I looked at some video. His stroke doesn't look broken.

The problem with his shot is he's very mechanical with his stoke and he shoots it out in front of his face, from a low position. He will need room to get off clean looks and it's not the quickest release.
