I'm not sure they get much better. If Kyrie is bailing....suddenly Celtics are a tad hesitant to throw all this youth for a potential (likely) 1-year rental. This #4 pick was huge. It helps us sweeten a deal.
Feel like we'll get Kyrie then. Get a couple shooters, and couple good vets (Ariza, Brewer, Milsap type guys) and let's do it.
If Clippers let Zubac go...let's grab him back.
The only way to trade for AD according to trade rules is to trade Lonzo, Ingram AND #4 after he is signed and 30 days has passed. You could keep one of Lonzo and Ingram, but you would have to trade everyone else (Mo, Kuz, Hart, Jones) in their place which would cause roster issues for the acquiring team (Jones is unguaranteed, but it would still be a 5 for 1 deal). Given the blood clot issue, maybe the team would prefer the 5 for 1, but either way there is still a month wait after the #4 pick is signed.
Zubac is a restricted FA, so assuming that the Clippers submit a qualifying offer, they can match any offer from another team, and the Lakers would have no money to sign him that wouldn't be instantly matched. This is why many on this board were so pissed after that terrible trade because Zubac had a really low cap number.
