It's closer than you would think. That is why Pettitte throws it a lot less and goes to his change and curve a lot since his injury.

That was his changeup, kandi. That double he gave up was on a changeup. It's inconsistent.

You can see flashes with Phil. The same stuff I saw in Scranton earlier this year and in Trenton last year. Those first two outs were a thing of beauty... almost Curt Schilling like, just jamming guys.

Posada always does that, and I really wish Kay would ask somebody such as Leiter about it. It always drives me nuts, why can't he just put his glove lower and let the pitcher hit it rather than shaking it as if saying "low! low!"?

you are making my point

he needs a third pitch in his arsenal....changeup, slider, whatever

i think he has the potential to get a real good changeup, but its also mental, ie, having the confidence to throw it

cuz he will learn real soon that if curveball is off, the fastball aint gonna get you thru mlb hitters

Yeah I think the injury really set him back. He could've used May-August to develop that pitch some more and be good down the stretch, instead he has to almost start over.

Lets not forget how FILTHY his changeup was against Texas the night of his injury. He struck out Teixeira on 3 in a row, all swings and misses with the change.

I agree. But this is growing pains for him. He needs to throw some changeups to keep it fresh, but now it is getting hit. As he gets more experience with it, it will get better. But he needs to throw it. Sometimes it'll get whacked around, but it's good for his future.

He's also flashed a good slider too.
