damn. so his prime years are gone just like that. and its still not for sure whether or not he ever comes back. what a shame. huge loss for pacers if this is true.
Tyreke is a quality player and still hadn't reached his peak imho.

I want to think this was all sarcasm, but I'm worried that it isn't

Yes it does and I don't care what you say!

That's a false equivalency though. Evans was not stealing from the Pacers.

I think a lot of Pacers fans would agree he stole 12 mil from us this past season

Good news is now he can move on with his life and go do something else with 20% effort.

I have no problem with the NBA banning him. The rules and consequences are clearly laid out and he failed to follow them.

But for you to laugh about what is likely a very serious problem for him because you didn't like how he performed for the basketball team that you root for is just straight pathetic.

this not it

if it's a drug problem, banning him from the league helps no one. send him to rehab. give him support. it's not about being his family it's just common decency and how you should treat your employees.

It helps the next NBA guy who thinks it's a good idea to start using drugs.

No it doesn't at all actually, and this kind of logic shows how little you understand about drug addiction. Again, drug users almost always have deeper emotional problems or histories of abuse/family issues that lead to them turning to methods of escaping that. Tyreke's ban will have absolutely no effect on preventing that in future cases. Drugs aren't the "forbidden fruit" you're making them out to be.

yeah, i mean taking basketball away from him is a solid wake up call. it is the right call to make. however, I really hope that the NBA has mechanisms in place to help this guy because I have no doubts that whatever he got caught for is the end result of some really bad stuff that he's dealing with internally.

the guy makes millions of dollars but he has to numb himself from something that he can't escape. it's not a simple issue nor should it be treated as such.

Send the guy to rehab and get him help. Don’t ban him for two years and ostracize him.

He probably already did but on the low.

Exactly. It would violate HIPAA if they revealed he was receiving treatment. That would never get released publicly.

If I had to guess, he was probably doing cocaine. Doesn’t really seem like a meth guy, like Chris Anderson did.

Hope he is able to figure it out. From a human being standpoint not even about basketball. I keep having Lamar Odom flashbacks and I really hope it was just a small thing and not part of a bigger problem of addiction.

This is an archaic policy; I'm not sure why the Player's Association hasn't had much to say about it.

For the posters just throwing around him doing Meth crack or cocaine without even knowing or having a source is just pathetic

Exactly what I thought, dude did or said something, somewhere he shouldn't have. That's a bizarre punishment. The league wants him out and it has nothing to do with drugs as more than half of the league's players do drugs.
Good assessment:

Can a policy where you don't get punished until your 5th violation be called 'zero tolerance'?

I hope it is cocaine compared to all that other sh*t he could’ve gotten banned for besides maybe lean. You do realize that there IS a list of things you get banned for, right?

From what I’ve heard, NBA players are informed of drug testing dates wayyy beforehand (talking months here) & no drug tests are performed after the end of March or so. Not to mention that you have to get like 3-4 infractions to have anything serious happen to you. It’s just hard for some people to get it together.

There’s probably a few other guys in the league who haven’t been outed yet. Hell, when Larry Sanders use to play for Bucks, I knew some guys who would go up to his house & heard some crazy stories. Interestingly enough, OJ Mayo got banned not too long after Larry Sanders walked away from $20m to quit the league.

Probably cocaine or mdma. If its repeat I think nba assumes it’s a habit and intervenesharshly because they don’t want drug use that could cause a guy to collapse on the court if he was partying the night before and tries playing

I've watched him a lot this year in Indiana. This doesn't surprise me one bit. He always looked liek somethign was wrong with him, missin wide open layups, and looking out of place all the time.

Simple deductive reasoning.

Based on the CBA, in order for the league to come down this hard on a first time offender it's had to have been one of those drugs.

I feel bad for speculating, but I haven't seen this mentioned much. He was dealing with knee pain a lot this year, and many people have gotten started down the opioid path as a result of chronic pain issues.
