Re: Draft Thread: Knicks got #3 - Combine and Beyond
Have been reading the Hawks’ draft thread. All I can say is that I’m glad our FO has stopped its fetish of picking in the 8-9 range.
Could get a good player there but still.

My big board for Knicks, it's a 1+2 person draft. So the choice should be pretty obvious, whichever prospect Memphis doesn't take.
1. Zion
2. Morant/Barrett
3. Culver/Hunter/Reddish/Washington

I wonder how RJ feels being caught up in this.
I know they’re buddies but you’ve gotta wonder.
I’m sure he’ll use it as motivation one way or other.

They'd probably become my 2nd favorite team at that point

Yes then compare that to the Pelicans’ and Grizzlies’ forums.

Doing my best not to get too attached to this pick/the idea of drafting RJ.
Feels more and more like we're trading it imo

Barring any trades am wondering that with Mudiay (hopefully) and Hicks gone if DSJ would choose a different jersey number (1 or 4) to free up the #5 for RJ.

Steve Mills has grown a lot since that THJr signing.
Let’s see if he follows through with this.
This is also posturing for the AD deal
Or maybe yet Griffin already turned Pills down on an AD deal.
All of our assets that are available for the trade are known by now post-lottery.

cant ignore basic reality just to feel better about this position, or you will lose bigger.
What is wrong with you? You have real RJ issues and need help. The fact you rate Beal so high is another symptom. The guy is Eric Gordon. Good, but not a top 2 on a championship team. RJ has a single concerning weakness, and that is his jumper. Wade shot UNDER 30% for most of his career and finished at 29%. He was 32 and 35% in college at 21 and 22 years old. Obviously your analytical skills and objectivity is severely lacking. BY ALL accounts, RJ has a very real possibility to be the best player in the draft.

RJ has no elite level nba skills or tools. i dont rate beal that highly but he’s far more impactful than rj on a good team.alphad0gz wrote:awy wrote:WajaBawl wrote:

You assume he needs to work on his right hand as if its a weakness. His off hand is very strong. Both driving and finishing.
So that's the "very wrong" assumption? Okay, but i disagree and think it proves that he needs to work on going to his right when he going to the basket in all of his videos.
Disagree if you want. You are getting your knowledge off of a highlight video..not even a breakdown video. so..And your knowledge is based off nothing. So youre just making assumtions which is wrong. But ok.. Disagree since you know so much

Just me.... (assuming KD & KI)but I see no reason why KD can't play PF in today's NBA and quite frankly as he gets older that may be his best position. I also believe Knox will get stronger, smarter and much better in his sophomore year. You can't teach his work ethic. Add in Jordan who I really think will come back and you have a defensive anchor who when motivated is still a good player until he's supplanted by Mitch. By drafting Barrett, who is a talented legit 6'7 you have a roster (on paper) that rivals any team in the East.

Re: Draft Thread: Knicks got #3 - Combine and Beyond
Very few people have elite NBA skills coming in. Usually, the best have one ready skill and the potential to develop others. RJ has several to be honed. Unless you just haven't been paying attention, RJ was considered the consensus #1 until about a third of the way through the year and then #2. Ja blew up at the end and the fact that he and RJ are considered about equal in terms of potential says a lot. Zion is exciting and spectacular but he is no lock to be a perennial allstar, especially since it's his uncommon athleticism that sets him apart. He doesn't create his own shot and....lets just agree to disagree. I am thrilled to have either Ja or RJ. Both will be allstars.awy wrote:RJ has no elite level nba skills or tools. i dont rate beal that highly but he’s far more impactful than rj on a good team.alphad0gz wrote:awy wrote:thats hilarious considering the clear and stubborn attempts at showing up zion rj has repeatedly done.

Agreed. Any time I put together a speculative lineup with KD & Kyrie, I tend to have KD at the 4. Either starting, or as the backup.
Someone listed a group of PF's the Knicks could get and I'm pretty sure it included Taj Gibson. Basically, anyone who has a little bulk - and there's an acceptable range - and is willing to rebound and play physical defense.
From Taj Gibson to Morris (price probably too high) to even Vonleh (feel like the Knicks could do a little better)

Re: Draft Thread: Knicks got #3 - Combine and Beyond
You guys are underestimating RJ’s best intangible.
Winning!
Kid went undefeated in HS, played on a very good Duke team. Has shown to be a Alpha and not scared to take Big shots or willing to decoy and play with other stars.
He isn’t Andrew Wiggins.
We should be very excited.
We have a potential All-Star at the 2/3 for the next 12-15 yrs

Re: Draft Thread: Knicks got #3 - Combine and Beyond
I guarantee NO will probably wait it out until the trade deadline to see if they can convince AD to stay, I mean why rush? If AD acts like a punk during that time and they lose games than it puts them in position for another lottery pick. I see no rush to trade AD.
