This is the 3rd yr in a row KD has carried Steph and co. throughout the playoffs. They're going to be in for a shock next season when KD isn't there.

Thibs Turns Down Lead Assistant Job with Lakers

Post#1442 » by Ranma » Wed May 8, 2019 12:38 pm

Woj went on to say that Tom Thibodeau loves L.A. Thibs may want a head coaching position but he's not getting one anytime soon in light of the fiasco he presided over in Minnesota during the Jimmy Butler era. I've always been open and calling for him to be on Doc's staff again to construct the Clippers' defense. Doc can rein in his tendency to overwork players while also benefiting from his scheming genius.

Bring in Thibs and Igor Kokoskov for Doc's coaching staff and the Clips would benefit significantly on defense, offense and even in talent development.

So the Warriors beat the Rockets in 2 games without KD. They would not have beat us without KD in my opinion.

In our series against them, Durant stayed healthy the entire time, Curry wasn't bothered by nagging injuries, and they even had Cousins for a game. And despite not having all that luck in our favor like Houston did, we still won just as many games against them as they did. And we won on the road.

No KD? Curry on bad ankles? We win that series IMO.

They almost play better without KD though, specially when they use him iso after iso after iso going away from their usual game. They certainly play better without Cousins.

It’d be fooling ourselves to think we played them better than the Rockets, we gave a good account of ourselves but we were never a real threat to them. The Rockets were, all 6 games were really close and either team could’ve won any of the games. We are on a good path but we are far from comparing ourselves to the top teams.

I understand your point. I agree that the Rockets are a better team but a few things come to mind.

Remember the "Boston Massacre"? The Celtics came back to beat those Lakers in that finals.

1. Its not a matter of how close you can keep games. All wins and losses just count as 1 game no matter the score.
2. KD was the Warrior that killed us. If they did not have KD it would have been significant loss. He may be the best player in the NBA.
3. Curry did not play us on gimpy ankles. The Rockets did not play the same GS team that we did. Health is a huge factor.

Everyone's saying this was the GS team that everyone used to love. The truth is, this was the GS team that Clipper fans started hating, before KD arrived. Qhen they signed kD, I hust stopped caring because everyone else was just hopeless against the Warriors.

If the Clips beat the Lakers they might still be playing.
